Ben Affleck is BATMAN!!!

“We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular Super Heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some,”
WB president Greg Silverman said in a statement.

Zack Snyder went on to say;
“Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne,” Snyder said in a statement. “I can’t wait to work with him.”

BURBANK, CA, August 22, 2013 – Ending weeks of speculation, Ben Affleck has been set to star as Batman, a.k.a. Bruce Wayne. Affleck and filmmaker Zack Snyder will create an entirely new incarnation of the character in Snyder’s as-yet-untitled project—bringing Batman and Superman together for the first time on the big screen and continuing the director’s vision of their universe, which he established in “Man of Steel.” The announcement was made today by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, and Sue Kroll, President, Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

The studio has slated the film to open worldwide on July 17, 2015.

Last month’s surprise announcement of the new movie featuring both Superman and Batman created a wave of excitement and immediately fueled discussion and debate—among fans as well as in the media—about who would put on the cape and cowl of Bruce Wayne’s alter ego.

Snyder successfully re-imagined the origin of Clark Kent/Superman in the worldwide blockbuster “Man of Steel,” which has earned more than $650 million worldwide to date, and climbing. The director will now create an original vision of Batman and his world for the film that brings the two DC Comics icons together.
Affleck will star opposite Henry Cavill, who will reprise the role of Superman/Clark Kent. The film will also reunite “Man of Steel” stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.

Kroll added, “We are so thrilled that Ben is continuing Warner Bros.’ remarkable legacy with the character of Batman. He is a tremendously gifted actor who will make this role his own in this already much-anticipated pairing of these two beloved heroes.”
Affleck recently starred in the Academy Award®-winning Best Picture “Argo,” which he also directed and produced, earning acclaim and a BAFTA Award nomination for his performance in the film, as well as a number of directing honors. In 2010, he starred in and directed the hit crime thriller “The Town.” His recent acting work also includes “The Company Men,” “State of Play,” and “Hollywoodland,” for which he received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor. Earlier in his career, Affleck starred in and co-wrote (with Matt Damon) “Good Will Hunting,” for which he won an Oscar® for Best Original Screenplay.
The new Super Hero film is being scripted by David S. Goyer from a story he co-created with Zack Snyder. Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder are producing, with Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan and Wesley Coller serving as executive producers.
Production is expected to begin in 2014.
The film is based on Superman characters created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster, and Batman characters created by Bob Kane, published by DC Entertainment.

When are DC going to admit "Man Of Steel 2" is a Justice League film?

It feels like since it was announced that they were making a sequel to "Man Of Steel" we ALL knew that film was destined to be a Justice League film. It feels like EVERY single week now we find out about another actor/actress being rumoured to either be a member of the Justice League or a huge DC villain.

They can keep on going on saying that the film is just a Superman sequel, but does anybody really believe it?

I personally think it will be a more character driven production than "Man Of Steel", using less CGI and more screen time will concentrate on developing characters in order for them to have their own stand alone films. We all know that a name a big as Affleck would not be given a 1 film deal, in my opinion he will have signed on for a multi-picture deal 3 or more pictures would be my guess.

I think in 2017 we might get to see a live-action version of "The Dark Knight Returns" or something of a similar arc. Where Batman is in the latter years of his career, in which we will see a much darker Batman like we are rumoured to see in "Man Of Steel 2".

Just some of the names being tossed about for the sequel are;
Jason Momoa - Martian Manhunter/Doomsday/Aquaman

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson - Martian Manhunter/Green Lantern/Doomsday

Bryan Cranston - Lex Luther/James Gordon

Timothy Dalton - Alfred

Denzel Washington - Green Lantern/Lex Luther

Joaquin Phoenix - Lex Luther

Callan Mulvery - Metallo

Mark Strong - Lex Luthor

Possible titles for Batman vs. Superman

I've seen a lot of debate online to what the sequel to "Man Of Steel" should be titled, I for one think it should just be "Worlds Finest" or maybe "Man Of Steel: Worlds Finest" an that seems to be the favourite with other fans. However, it seems like Warner Bros might be taking a different approach Futsible have reported recently.

There's been a lot of debate over the official title of the upcoming Batman vs. Superman film scheduled to be released in 2015. This week, Warner Bros. secretly registered a host of possible titles through the internet brand protection company MarkMonitor. Now, it's likely the debate is going to get more opinions. According to the latest domain registrations, possible titles include "Man of Steel Battle the Knight," "Man of Steel Beyond Darkness," "Man of Steel Black of Knight," "Man of Steel Darkness Falls," "Man of Steel Knight Falls," "Man of Steel Shadow of the Night," "Man of Steel The Blackest Hour," and "Man of Steel The Darknness Within."

My guess is that these are all names to just throw us bloggers off the scent of what they are actually going to call the movie. These names seem to dark orientated, I realise that they have to include Batman in the title somehow. However I am a little worried about how they will do it, I just want it to be simple i.e Worlds Finest.

"Superman vs Batman"!?!?!

We ALL know by now that the sequel to "Man Of Steel" is going to be a film including Batman which is already being titled by some as "Superman vs Batman". There has been talk of Batman and Superman teaming up on the big screen for as long as I can remember an now are getting it!!!

According to reports we have a lot to look forward too;
"After decades of fighting evil solo, Batman and Superman will finally be teaming up on the big screen, multiple sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter.

Warner Bros. is expected to announce at its Hall H panel that as the follow-up to Man of Steel, it is pairing two of the most recognizable superheroes in the world for a one-two punch that will be directed by Zack Snyder.

Henry Cavill will reprise his role as Superman, but it is unclear who will play Batman in the new film. A release date of 2015 has been set, with tentative plans for a Flash movie appearing in 2016 and a Justice League movie in 2017, sources said."

Even if you weren't a fan of "Man Of Steel" I think we ALL agree that it is a shame that this film didn't happen a lot sooner. However bringing Nolan's Batman together with Snyder's Superman won't work. I think we have to completely leave behind Nolan's world an start fresh with a new Batman. Plus, if Christian Bale comes back I will genuinely cry and boycott the film.

"Man Of Steel" 13 minute featurette

Any time I see ANYTHING about "Man Of Steel" I just explode with excitement, so when I heard there was a 13 minute feature I nearly shit my pants with excitement. Without sounding like I am being dramatic, but I genuinely think this film will change the comic book movie world for the better. It is going to be the stand out film made by either Marvel or DC, when Cavill was first cast I was a lit apprehensive but each time I see him as The Man Of Steel I am persuaded he was by far the best decision the casting team could have made. Anyway back to the feature, check it out below even keep yours eyes open for some previously unseen footage.

Henry Cavill talks potential Superman/Batman movie

For years now, there have been countless numbers about whether Warner Bros. would start their own Cinematic Universe with DC characters like Marvel Studios has done. While Warner have never officially said there will be a film, it hasn't stopped us fans speculating on what we would like to see, it looks like these rumours seem to be amping up a bit an Henry Cavill has given his opinion on what he thinks.

“I think it would be really interesting with the age-old Batman/Superman conflict,” Cavill told SFX, “because they are two different sides of the same coin and their methods are entirely different. And I think it would actually make for an interesting story as to why, first of all, they were going head to head and how. I think that would make a great story.”

When asked if this is actually a possibility, Cavill replied:

“Who knows, I’m sure there’s all sorts of ideas being thrown around at Warner Bros right now.”

New "Man Of Steel" trailer

So, here it is another trailer for "Man Of Steel" this film just seems to get better and better every time I seen a new clip or trailer or even picture. The trailer reuses some footage we have already seen, the word epic is tossed about a lot in the movie world these days but saying this film will be "epic" might be an understatement. Snyder has done a great job, well from what we can decipher from watching the clips we've seen, depending on how good this film turns out to be. Snyder could put himself in the running for "The Justice League" film I think.

Frank Daradont talks "Godzilla" reboot

When I read Frank Darabont was hired to write the script for the "Godzilla" reboot I was kinda excited the dude has a great filmography behind him "The Walking Dead", "The Green Mile" & "The Shawshank Redemption" to name a few. The plan since the last film has been to make it more serious, here is what Darabont had to say about the film.

“What I found very interesting about Godzilla is that he started off definitely as a metaphor for Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And some of the atom bomb testing we were doing in the South Pacific in the subsequent years. The giant terrifying force of nature that comes and stomps the shit out of your city, that was Godzilla. Filtered through the very fanciful imaginations of the Japanese perception. And then he became Clifford the Big Red Dog in the subsequent films. He became the mascot of Japan, he became the protector of Japan. Another big ugly monster would show up and he would fight that monster to protect Japan. Which I never really quite understood, the shift.

What we’re trying to do with the new movie is not have it camp, not have it be campy. We’re kind of taking a cool new look at it. But with a lot of tradition in the first film. We want this to be a terrifying force of nature. And what was really cool, for me, is there was a very compelling human drama that I got to weave into it. It’s not that cliched, thinly disguised romance or bromance, or whatever. It’s different, it’s a different set of circumstances than you’re used to seeing. And that’s tremendously exciting as a writer when you’re asked to do something else."

Production is set to begin this March, with Gareth Edwards the genius behind 2010's "Monsters" directing, the cast is still being put together but there is some big names being thrown around. Names like Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Henry Cavill, Scoot McNairy and Caleb Landry Jones are being touted for the lead role after Joseph Gordon-Levitt turned it down at the end of last year.

Let's talk Justice League

You all know that back in June, Warner Bros announced that they were bringing Justice League to this big screen. According to some reports, screenwriter Will Beall has been hired to write the screenplay,if you aren't familiar with his work. He has worked on the TV Show "Castle" as a write plus he wrote the screenplay for "Gangster Squad" plus rumours are suggesting he has been hired to reboot/remake "Lethal Weapon" and "Logan's Run".

Both Nolan and Snyder have said in the past that their films are stand alone projects, in a way restricted to their own universe. But, that doesn't mean that another director won't go back and recast actors who have previously played roles.

Batman

Sam Witwer, don't know what it is but for a few years now since I seen him in "Smallville" I've thought Witwer would be perfect for the role of Batman. I've thought about a new Batman since the second I heard Christian Bale's stupid fucking voice in "Batman Begins". Since I started doing this piece I kept looking back at Joe Manganiello as a possible Batman but I put him down as a possible Superman in all seriousness I would be happy if he were cast as either but for now my first choice is Sam Witwer.

Superman

Seen as Henry Cavill is already Superman, I guess recasting Cavill as Superman for "The Justice League". Lets say though that the studio wanted to go a different route an make the film a complete stand alone no previous affiliations to Nolan's Trilogy or Snyder's "Man Of Steel", if that were to happen my first choice would be Joe Manganiello the BIG guy from "True Blood" (the dude on the right).

Green Lantern

Without any hesitation do I go straight to Nathan Fillion as my Green Lantern, he already voiced Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) in "Green Lantern: Emerald Knight" & "Justice League: Doom". Plus with this being a stand alone film Fillion is able to play Hal Jordan, he can't do a worse job than Ryan Reynolds did in 2011.

Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman, now this is a actress I mulled over for nearly an hour I just couldn't pin point a single actress I'd personally hire. Doing a bit of research I seen names like Megan Fox, Charlize Theron and Sienna Miller thrown about for me none of them make the cut. Then I remembered watching "Haywire" a few months ago, while the film was pretty bad I remember watching Gina Carano and thinking this woman is bad ass who is she. Turns out she used to be an MMA fighter/kick boxer before she became an actress an we all know Wonder Woman loved to kick ass.

Flash

This is another decision that took a while, but eventually settled on Justin Timberlake from he is a funny guy and a decent actor plus he has the build an actor would need to play Flash. Other actors I was considering were Joel McHale & Ryan Gosling.

Martian Manhunter

Ah, Martian Manhunter the forgotten member when the conversation of Justice League comes up people forget about him. In my opinion he is probably the best aside from Superman & Batman for obvious sentimental reasons ha. A lot Martian Manhunter would be CGI due to the fact he shape shifts a lot, so it would take a good actor to potray him during the none shifting scenes that why I settled on the incredibly talented Idris Elba.

An that's my select 6 actors and characters a lot of other people talk about possible use of Aquaman, Hawkman, Captain Marvel, Green Arrow & Black Canary. All great hero's in their own right, but these are my 6 but for the sake of it, here would be my choice for the other members that could be used an will definitely considered.

Green Arrow & Black Canary

Another decision that took no hesitation, have you guys seen "Arrow" on CW (USA) Sky1 (UK) its easily one of the best shows on right now an they dynamic these two have is incredible.

Hawkman & Captain Marvel

I chose Channing Tatum purely on how he looks, I realise how that sounds but he looks just like what I imagine Hawkman in real life would look. Plus, check out Patrick Warburton it's like Captain Marvel was based on him ha ha.

Aquaman

I'm gonna go with Jensen Ackles, not just because I'm a huge "Supernatural" fan but I also think he has that pretty boy look that Aquaman needs but he still has his rugged side too.

I'd love to know what you think of my selections, plus let me know of any possible story archs you think they could take when they make the film. I never really read Justice League growing up so I know very little about the stories they undertook, plus I'd like to know who you guys would pick for your Justice League movies.

"Man Of Steel" poster

This is the first official poster for "Man Of Steel", this poster is nothing at all like I was expecting if I'm honest.
The Man Of Steel bound by mere steel handcuffs? I don't wanna jump the gun with his, so I'm going to revise my judgement for now.

"Man Of Steel" OFFICIAL TRAILERS!!!

I know yesterday I posted the trailer on here, but the quality was horrible. Well luckily for us looks like we have the official releases for the trailers today, and it turns out there is two different trailers.

20 July, 2012

"Man Of Steel" TRAILER!!!

If you can't wait for the trailer to be released officially, like me. Then you're in for a nice surprise, here is the trailer all be it with pretty horrible quality. But, be QUICK the video will probably be taken down very soon.

"Man Of Steel" action scene?

The highly anticipated Zack Snyder installment in the Superman fanchise doesn't release cinematically until June next year, besides the trailer shown at Comic Con (which I am expecting to be released with "The Dark Knight Rises") there isn't a lot of detail of how it will look.

Over at Bleeding Cool, they got a taste at Comic Con from an unknown source of what they believe is a sequence from the upcoming film. Possible SPOILER ahead.

"But I have been told details of one specific scene in particular, in which Superman breaks apart a building and uses the building itself as a weapon in some kind of ‘super martial art’ fashion. “Girders as throwing stars” was the specific example I was given."

"Man Of Steel" SDCC

Why, thank you Comic Con for the update on "Man Of Steel". After SDCC wrapping up the other day all the beauty of it is online, one year I will make it there! But if you were unlucky like me an was not able to attend then about 95% of the event is available online in picture/video form. Here we have another look at the costume that Mr.Cavill will be rocking in "The Man Of Steel" plus a new poster released just for SDCC. I'm personally upset that they have dropped the famous "red underwear" from the suit, but I still think it looks pretty bad ass.

"Man Of Steel" still and Schiff interview

A new still from the set of "Man Of Steel" made it online yesterday, doesn't give away any of the story but it looks cool.

"I’ve already started shooting. I go back again this weekend and shoot for another couple of weeks and then will go elsewhere. So I’ve gotten my feet wet and have worked with Amy Adams, Chris Meloni and a few others. I’ve gotten to know Zack and he is fantastic. That guy is just an upbeat happy guy.

Dr. Hamilton came along very late, didn’t he? So I don’t even know if I would be able to find those (comic books). Can you find those online? I don’t know? So not so much, I mean I did some research into who he was and who people interpret him to be. Obviously he has had incarnations on a number of different mediums, on TV and in animation. They always get interpreted differently so you have to go with what the script has to offer and I’ve been very intrigued but what they’ve written. I wouldn’t impose some outside idea on what Zack and the writers want to do with this. But it is fun to know all the various incarnations that he’s had. Obviously he’s been evil in some incarnations, and friendly in other incarnations, and a combination of both in yet other incarnations, so that is fun to have in your mind when you are playing him. But the script goes in certain directions and that is what I will follow."
