Christopher Nolan does it again, it is like Nolan was destined from his early days to go down in history as one of the greats, not only is the man creating history making films he is also partially responsible for the revival of the comic world we know and love today. Interstellar isn't Nolan's first Science Fiction film, that was Inception in 2010, however this is his first full fledged Science Fiction in my opinion, no disrespect to Inception.

If you have been a fan of Nolan's previous work, which if you are not, then Interstellar is the one that will make you fall in love with this genius' work. The film is a complex story driven film that will leave you in awe of not just the complexity of the story, but the sheer beauty of what Nolan and his crew have created. I do not want to give too much of the story away, however, I will say that the film is full of twists and turns in typical Nolan fashion, but he doesn't rely on them to keep the film moving forward. The pacing of the film was incredible, while you will know you are being pulled in by twists, you tend to forget that is happening by Nolan's use of action, drama and visuals you can not even begin to imagine. 

I have said previously I was not one for soundtracks or scores, however, after watching this film I truly understand why many people are in love with that aspect of films. Hans Zimmer delivers a score that does itself what Nolan does with his script, the music is so beautifully pace that you are drawn in deep by it even though it did kind of remind me of a 70/80's Horror film. It wasn't just Zimmer's score that was a beautiful addition to the film, the use of sound while in space, well the lack there of was incredible. Outside of the spaceship Nolan went with the use of no sound at all, which really was a terrifying choice, any scene outside the ship really makes you feel insignificant as a creature. The Alien tagline "In space no one can hear you scream" will play on your mind every time the camera switches to the exterior. I could continue to talk about the sound, but I can guarantee I would run out of superlatives in no time.

This is my first time experiencing Matthew McConaughey in his new lease on acting, I was personally more used to his acting from Two For The Money, How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days and Contact not exactly roles that he shone in. So talk of his revived and seemingly meteoric increase in acting ability was something I was apprehensive about, I am to happy to say my apprehensions were extremely wrong about Mr McConaughey's acting ability, he was completely stellar (yes I did just say that, deal with it) I was pleasantly surprised with how far he has came, the emotions he went through in the film were completely believable and felt relatable. On the other hand I have never been a lover of Anne Hatheway's acting, I have always found her to be boring and this film was no different, she was very monotone and annoying and just not good in my opinion. The rest of the cast a collective were pretty good as well, I mean can you really go wrong with Michael Caine, Jessica Chastain, John Lithgow and Matt Damon? I for one can not see how you can. Plus CASE and TARS, two robots you will absolutely love and that I can say with 100% certainty, they were hilarious and great additions to the film.

Now onto what makes Interstellar an instant classic, the visual effects, I say visual effects they are more art than an addition to the film. They are not like the visual effects you will see in your every day film, these are truly a spectacle to behold, they will go down in history as some of the greatest visual effects in any film. There was scenes I will not divulge details as to not take away from their beauty, that you will just sit back in your chair and exhale in just awe and amazement. Some of the scenes were so beautiful I would even go as far as to say they would rival Geoffrey Unsworth's cinematography we seen in "2001: A Space Odyssey" that may seem like a bold statement to make but if you have seen both films I hope you can see where I am coming from. 

Overall, the film was a truly a thrill ride, from the ultimate heights of landing on new planets looking for a new home for the human race, to the complete lows of losing the last hope for humanity. While the visual effects are truly out of this world, you do not forget throughout the entire film that is at heart a story about a father and daughter. The film should not only appeal to Science Fiction fans, it should be appealing to all films alike. A mixture of a beautiful story, great acting and unfathomable special effects that leave you craving more science fiction in your life. This film is truly a modern masterpiece and it pains me to say I missed it in the cinema, because this on the big screen would have been one of the best cinematic experiences in anybodies lives.

"Superman vs Batman"!?!?!

We ALL know by now that the sequel to "Man Of Steel" is going to be a film including Batman which is already being titled by some as "Superman vs Batman". There has been talk of Batman and Superman teaming up on the big screen for as long as I can remember an now are getting it!!!

According to reports we have a lot to look forward too;
"After decades of fighting evil solo, Batman and Superman will finally be teaming up on the big screen, multiple sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter.

Warner Bros. is expected to announce at its Hall H panel that as the follow-up to Man of Steel, it is pairing two of the most recognizable superheroes in the world for a one-two punch that will be directed by Zack Snyder.

Henry Cavill will reprise his role as Superman, but it is unclear who will play Batman in the new film. A release date of 2015 has been set, with tentative plans for a Flash movie appearing in 2016 and a Justice League movie in 2017, sources said."

Even if you weren't a fan of "Man Of Steel" I think we ALL agree that it is a shame that this film didn't happen a lot sooner. However bringing Nolan's Batman together with Snyder's Superman won't work. I think we have to completely leave behind Nolan's world an start fresh with a new Batman. Plus, if Christian Bale comes back I will genuinely cry and boycott the film.

"Man Of Steel" 13 minute featurette

Any time I see ANYTHING about "Man Of Steel" I just explode with excitement, so when I heard there was a 13 minute feature I nearly shit my pants with excitement. Without sounding like I am being dramatic, but I genuinely think this film will change the comic book movie world for the better. It is going to be the stand out film made by either Marvel or DC, when Cavill was first cast I was a lit apprehensive but each time I see him as The Man Of Steel I am persuaded he was by far the best decision the casting team could have made. Anyway back to the feature, check it out below even keep yours eyes open for some previously unseen footage.

J.J. Abrams on leaked Superman treatment

J.J. Abrams may be the man bringing us the new Star Wars and Star Trek films, but in another alternate time line he may have been the man bringing Superman back to the big screen. In a recent interview with Empire he spoke about Superman Flyby his take on the Kal-El story.

"The thing that I tried to emphasise in the story was that if the Kents found this boy, Kal-El, who had the power that he did, he would have most likely killed them both in short order, and the idea that these parents would see – if they were lucky to survive long enough – that they had to immediately begin teaching this kid to limit himself and to not be so fast, not be so strong, not be so powerful."

"The result of that, psychologically, would be fear of oneself, self-doubt and being ashamed of what you were capable of," he went on to say. "Extrapolating that to adulthood became a fascinating psychological profile of someone who was not pretending to be Clark Kent, but who was Clark Kent. Who had become that kind of a character who is not able or willing to accept who he was and what his destiny was."

"The idea in the movie was that he became Superman because he realised he had to finally own his strength and what he’d always been. I don’t know if that’s what Zack and Chris [Nolan] are doing, but it looks like that’s part of the idea and I could not be more thrilled to see that movie. That to me was always the way to go,"

Ryan Reynolds not interested in Green Lantern

It's a well known fact that Warner Bros. is working on bringing DC Comics' Justice League to the silver screen. However it looks like the studio may have to find themselves a new Green Lantern. During an interview with Empire, "Green Lantern" star Ryan Reynolds" explains why he doesn't plan on reprising his role of Hal Jordan anytime soon. Can you really blame him? The first film wasn't the best but if I'm being honest Reynolds gets a lot more bad press than he deserves for that film. He was working with a terrible script and idea an done what he could with it.

"I saw how difficult it is to make that concept palatable," he explains, "and how confused it all can be when you don't really know exactly where you're going with it or you don't really know how to access that world properly. That world comic book fans have been accessing for decades and falling in love with. So at this point I have very little interest in joining that kind of world."

For all you worried fans out there, he did go on to say that he is not completely writing himself off from the film. The right man at the helm could help persuade him to return.

"[A] great script and a good director can always turn that around," he admits. "...I believe that Joss Whedon is the guy that just nails it and Christopher Nolan obviously nails it. So if they were gonna do it like that, it would be an interesting thing to do."

Christopher Nolan's next film is...

Interstellar, seen as the Academy has completely snubbed Nolan an his Batman film this year so lets move onto what he's doing next. Let's put aside all this Superman/Justice League talk for a bit, we all know that Nolan kicks ass when it comes to original stories.

I mean look at how epic he done when it came too "Inception" that made like £800+ million, which wasn't to different to his earnings on the Batman movies. Plus it's looking likely that he is going back into Sci-Fi with a film written by his brother Jonathan Nolan.

I was looking around on some forums, and I actually seen a number of people saying stuff along the lines of "its about time Nolan moved into Sci-Fi, it will test him as a director". Have they not been watching his films, 4 of his 5 past films have been Sci-Fi to some extent are these people nuts? 

Do we have a new Batman?

Unless you've been locked in a cupboard or living under a rock, you've probably seen "The Dark Knight Rises" an you will know that Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character John Blake is being set up to take over Batman's duties. While this just looked like a beautiful closure to Nolan's trilogy, but now it is looking like it was a setup to the Justice League movie.

"According to sources, Joseph Gordon-Levitt absolutely will be appearing in “Justice League” as the new Batman.
Now here’s where things get interesting. The more insistent the drumbeat has become, the more poking around I’ve been doing, and it’s looking like we may see Gordon-Levitt in the suit earlier than that. They’re a long way from filming anything “Justice League” related, but they appear to be solidifying deals for Gordon-Levitt and, potentially, at least one other actor from the Nolan films to do… something."

I have a few major concerns with this rumour actually, firstly Bruce Wayne is Batman not John Blake never has he been an never should he be. I don't doubt Levitt's acting ability, he is a great actor but he isn't Bruce Wayne he is John Blake, Nolan's character not a DC hero. Using Blake in the Justice League movie makes no sense at all to me, we need Bruce Wayne as Batman just as we need Clark Kent as Superman without their alter-ego's the beauty of the comics and the legacy of 70 or so years.

Joseph Grordon-Levitt talks "Dark Knight Rises" ending

I'm gonna start with saying, DO NOT ignore the header above if you HAVE NOT seen "The Dark Knight Rises" leave the page NOW!

Back to the business, Joseph was recently on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" were he was asked about the ending of the film by Kimmel himself. 

I love how he totally geeks out when he kind of admits to being Robin, it just shows the geek inside him an shows he loves what hes doing. I kinda agree with him saying that this does not mean there will be a sequel, but in my heart I'm hoping that they do a Robin/Nightwing spin off. Would be bad ass!

Ben Affleck to direct "Justice League"

It's hard to keep track of who is producing or directing a film these days in Hollywood, it feels like every week they are changing. It is beginning to get frustrating for people who run blogs like myself, never know when is the right time to post a rumour/casting. The newest rumour doing its rounds is that Warner Bros and DC are looking at actor/director to take the helm of the planned Justice League film. There answer to "The Avengers" in order to cash in on the success of Marvel's ensemble film.

"With Christopher Nolan declaring himself out of the running for Justice League, Warner Bros. are reportedly trying to pin down Ben Affleck as the director of their shrouded-in-secrecy DC’s version of The Avengers…
…Affleck previously directed The Town for the studio and has the upcoming true story film Argo; on the other hand, Warner Bros. failed in their attempt to hire director George Miller.
Since Affleck recently said he’ll only direct films in which he also stars, which means if he does sign on as director, we can expect to see him starring as well."

"Man Of Steel" action scene?

The highly anticipated Zack Snyder installment in the Superman fanchise doesn't release cinematically until June next year, besides the trailer shown at Comic Con (which I am expecting to be released with "The Dark Knight Rises") there isn't a lot of detail of how it will look.

Over at Bleeding Cool, they got a taste at Comic Con from an unknown source of what they believe is a sequence from the upcoming film. Possible SPOILER ahead.

Why, thank you Comic Con for the update on "Man Of Steel". After SDCC wrapping up the other day all the beauty of it is online, one year I will make it there! But if you were unlucky like me an was not able to attend then about 95% of the event is available online in picture/video form. Here we have another look at the costume that Mr.Cavill will be rocking in "The Man Of Steel" plus a new poster released just for SDCC. I'm personally upset that they have dropped the famous "red underwear" from the suit, but I still think it looks pretty bad ass.

While this trailer is pretty bad ass, I still can't get re-excited over this film. Christian Bale's acting overall is abysmal, I tried watching "American Psycho" not so long ago and turned it off after 30 minutes. Even his acting in this trailer is pretty bad the "This isn't a car" line actually made me cringe. This trailer is more story driven an seems to be building towards the big fight between Batman an Bane. You can really see the big scenes that Nolan has put his signature on, the whole bridge exploding was incredible guessing it will look even more incredible in IMAX. The use of Catwoman (Hathaway) is looking like more than just a foe, it seems like they could explore a romantic storyline between the Bat an the Cat.

"The Dark Knight Rises" IMAX info

With Nolan's blockbuster set to hit the big screen in about three months time, here is some news for the big cinephile's out there. The film is set to have over 60 minutes of original IMAX footage from genuine IMAX camera's rather than post converted footage.  

"When Mr. Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises” opens July 20, it will contain the most IMAX footage ever for a Hollywood feature, more than one hour’s worth. There were 40 minutes of such footage in 2008′s “The Dark Knight”—which set box-office records in its opening weekend. IMAX’s summer slate also includes potential blockbusters “The Avengers,” “The Amazing Spider-Man,” “Men in Black 3,” Tim Burton’s gothic comedy “Dark Shadows,” and Ridley Scott’s 3-D “Prometheus.” Mr. Nolan’s film was the only one shot using IMAX cameras; the others were converted using IMAX’s technology."

Today new promotional pictures of Bane from the upcoming Batman instalment "The Dark Knight Rises" appeared online, the image speaks for itself Bane looks bad ass an terrifying in my opinion. The character looks like he should be fighting full on superheroes like Superman or Wolverine not a measly human like Bruce Wayne ha ha.

Bane shows "battle scar"

Warner Bros have released a new image from "The Dark Knight Rises" which gives us a slight insight into the rough lifestyle Bane has been leading.
I'm guessing that the neck scar links into the painkilling apparatus worn by Bane himself, seems to imply a possible spinal or neck injury in the past.

Christopher Nolan’s Batman franchise is one of the biggest in the world, was it intimidating jumping on board for The Dark Knight Rises?

It was so cool, I had an amazing time. I got to travel to places I’d never been to before. Christopher Nolan is so nice, so is Christian Bale. I just had the best time.

What’s your role in that film?

I play young Talia Al Ghul. I can’t give too much away because I promised Mr. Nolan I wouldn’t say anything. There are too many secrets about the character and the movie.


As you can see nobody else has previously confirmed that Talia Al Ghul was going to be in the film, I'm pretty convinced that she wasn't supposed to give away this secret. Well Liam Neeson as already lied through his teeth about not being in the film but we know now that he could have possibly filmed a scene. She did say "I play young Talia Al Ghul", does that mean as suspected that Marion Cotillard's role in the film might not just be limited to the apparent Miranda Tate character. Could we actually be seeing Cotillard be in the rumoured "double-role" that has been circulating the Internet? only time will tell... We can learn one thing from this, children should not be trusted with secrets of such high importance.
