Ben Affleck is BATMAN!!!

“We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular Super Heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some,”
WB president Greg Silverman said in a statement.

Zack Snyder went on to say;
“Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne,” Snyder said in a statement. “I can’t wait to work with him.”

BURBANK, CA, August 22, 2013 – Ending weeks of speculation, Ben Affleck has been set to star as Batman, a.k.a. Bruce Wayne. Affleck and filmmaker Zack Snyder will create an entirely new incarnation of the character in Snyder’s as-yet-untitled project—bringing Batman and Superman together for the first time on the big screen and continuing the director’s vision of their universe, which he established in “Man of Steel.” The announcement was made today by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, and Sue Kroll, President, Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

The studio has slated the film to open worldwide on July 17, 2015.

Last month’s surprise announcement of the new movie featuring both Superman and Batman created a wave of excitement and immediately fueled discussion and debate—among fans as well as in the media—about who would put on the cape and cowl of Bruce Wayne’s alter ego.

Snyder successfully re-imagined the origin of Clark Kent/Superman in the worldwide blockbuster “Man of Steel,” which has earned more than $650 million worldwide to date, and climbing. The director will now create an original vision of Batman and his world for the film that brings the two DC Comics icons together.
Affleck will star opposite Henry Cavill, who will reprise the role of Superman/Clark Kent. The film will also reunite “Man of Steel” stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.

Kroll added, “We are so thrilled that Ben is continuing Warner Bros.’ remarkable legacy with the character of Batman. He is a tremendously gifted actor who will make this role his own in this already much-anticipated pairing of these two beloved heroes.”
Affleck recently starred in the Academy Award®-winning Best Picture “Argo,” which he also directed and produced, earning acclaim and a BAFTA Award nomination for his performance in the film, as well as a number of directing honors. In 2010, he starred in and directed the hit crime thriller “The Town.” His recent acting work also includes “The Company Men,” “State of Play,” and “Hollywoodland,” for which he received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor. Earlier in his career, Affleck starred in and co-wrote (with Matt Damon) “Good Will Hunting,” for which he won an Oscar® for Best Original Screenplay.
The new Super Hero film is being scripted by David S. Goyer from a story he co-created with Zack Snyder. Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder are producing, with Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan and Wesley Coller serving as executive producers.
Production is expected to begin in 2014.
The film is based on Superman characters created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster, and Batman characters created by Bob Kane, published by DC Entertainment.

Matt Damon talks about the new Batsuit!

Over the past few weeks we have heard from Kevin Smith and Batmans wife herself Jennifer Garner about the new look of the "Batsuit" in the upcoming Man Of Steel sequel. Now we have heard from Afflecks life long friend Matt Damon;

"I've seen a picture, I have seen a picture. It's excellent. And I've talked to him about the storyline, and it's great. Look I've known him for thirty-something years, I'd be the first guy being like 'Buddy, what are you doing?' but I think the movie is going to be great."

"Man Of Steel 2" has LEX and ALFRED!!!

Warner Bros. Pictures have just announced that Jesse Eisenberg has been cast as Lex Luthor and the Jeremy Irons has been cast as Alfred in the upcoming Zack Snyder "Man Of Steel" sequel. The double announcement came today by Greg Silverman,

Snyder stated, “Lex Luthor is often considered the most notorious of Superman’s rivals, his unsavory reputation preceding him since 1940. What’s great about Lex is that he exists beyond the confines of the stereotypical nefarious villain. He’s a complicated and sophisticated character whose intellect, wealth and prominence position him as one of the few mortals able to challenge the incredible might of Superman. Having Jesse in the role allows us to explore that interesting dynamic, and also take the character in some new and unexpected directions.”

The director added, “As everyone knows, Alfred is Bruce Wayne’s most trusted friend, ally and mentor, a noble guardian and father figure. He is an absolutely critical element in the intricate infrastructure that allows Bruce Wayne to transform himself into Batman. It is an honor to have such an amazingly seasoned and gifted actor as Jeremy taking on the important role of the man who mentors and guides the guarded and nearly impervious façade that encapsulates Bruce Wayne.”

Gal Gadot is our WONDER WOMAN!!!

Warner Bros. announced yesterday that Gal Gadot, most known for her appearances in the "Fast And Furious" franchise has landed herself the role of Wonder Woman/Diana Prince.

Zack Snyder stated: "Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character."

However, Gina Carano will ALWAYS be my first choice Wonder Woman!

Possible titles for Batman vs. Superman

I've seen a lot of debate online to what the sequel to "Man Of Steel" should be titled, I for one think it should just be "Worlds Finest" or maybe "Man Of Steel: Worlds Finest" an that seems to be the favourite with other fans. However, it seems like Warner Bros might be taking a different approach Futsible have reported recently.

There's been a lot of debate over the official title of the upcoming Batman vs. Superman film scheduled to be released in 2015. This week, Warner Bros. secretly registered a host of possible titles through the internet brand protection company MarkMonitor. Now, it's likely the debate is going to get more opinions. According to the latest domain registrations, possible titles include "Man of Steel Battle the Knight," "Man of Steel Beyond Darkness," "Man of Steel Black of Knight," "Man of Steel Darkness Falls," "Man of Steel Knight Falls," "Man of Steel Shadow of the Night," "Man of Steel The Blackest Hour," and "Man of Steel The Darknness Within."

My guess is that these are all names to just throw us bloggers off the scent of what they are actually going to call the movie. These names seem to dark orientated, I realise that they have to include Batman in the title somehow. However I am a little worried about how they will do it, I just want it to be simple i.e Worlds Finest.

Ben Affleck IS BATMAN!!!!

This is my first post, might not do many, I might do a lot. I'll start by admitting I'm not the best at English, but I'll write as well as I can so bare with me please.
Anyway, I thought a good place to start would be here, I love movies, especially comic book movies, I always have, I love the best of them and the worst of them. This has been a controversial story so far, I'm not into the blogging community so I haven't seen the blog talk, but from general Internet pages and YouTube replys to the announcement, people don't seem happy.

I personally believe its a brilliant choice, we all know Affleck has made films like Gili, Pearl Harbour, but everyone forgets to mention how he was in Armageddon, Changing Lanes and The Sum Of All Fears. In the last few years he's turned his career around, Argo, The Town and The Company Men, from what I've seen personally or heard of others, he's been nothing but brilliant since he had his bad stint.

Now this is a risky statement, I understand that, but Daredevil, for me, was a good movie (the directors cut version). Mark Steven Johnson the director and screenplay writer for the film from my knowledge hasn't made many good movies. I believe Affleck gave that movie the only good aspect of it, and because of the character he played is the main reason he, to me, is perfect for Batman. The character of Matt Murdoch in that movie came across as a man, who's been through a lot, who knows the world can be an evil place, yet by some miracle, he has an ability he realises he can use to his advantage to made the city he lives in a better place, even if it's just for 1 person at a time at 1 night at a time. So he uses what he has to do that, all this whilst containing an everyday life, which also involves helping people, and I think that portrays well to batman, plus you can't deny he looks like a damn good Bruce Wayne.

Finally, I'll admit, Scott Adkins was my first choice for Batman.
This to me, looks like batman and Bruce Wayne. He has an unbelievable fighting talent, he's one of the best martial artists I've seen for a long time. He could make Batman look as badass as he could look, the character supposedly knows 120+ martial arts, I think he could pull the scenes off well. He was my first and last choice for him, until the rumours of a 40+ year old batman, then it changed. So for now, I'm happy with Affleck.

David S. Goyer on "Justice League" and the "Man Of Steel" sequel

"Man Of Steel" screenwriter David S. Goyer has began talking about a sequel and the possibility of a "Justice League" movie. Regarding the latter, he tells Hey U Guys that it would definitely feature a new Batman and not Christian Bale, as was rumoured before.

"It would be disingenuous to say Warner Bros doesn’t hope that this would be the starting point for a shared universe. And Zack has said that Bruce Wayne exists in this universe. It would be a different Bruce Wayne from Chris’ [Nolan] Dark Knight trilogy, and it would be disingenuous to say that Zack and I haven’t had various conversations on set, around ‘what if’ and ‘moving forward’.

That having been said, it’s all going to depend on the next few weeks. Warner Bros has hopes that there will be more Man Of Steel films, and that this will be the beginning of a shared universe. We could meet Batman, or Wonder Woman, or the Justice League in these movies. But they all hinge on box office reception."

"I think Warner Bros has seen – and Chris deserves the biggest credit for this – that we were able to revitalise Batman and put it into the first billion dollar superhero film. And they’re hoping that Superman will be revistalised as well. And if we can do Batman and Superman, then maybe we can move on to Wonder Woman, and The Flash, and characters like that."

Goyer also talked to CraveOnline about Lex Luthor appearing in the Man of Steel universe.

"If Lex is going to exist in the world, we would presumably have to give him the same treatment that we gave Lois Lane in the first film, which is make him a credible character. [...] He’s gotta be a man of incredible intelligence, and presumably a man of incredible wealth and incredible resources."

"Man Of Steel" to 'Cause' "Justice League" Movie?

It has been rumoured that earlier this week that Zack Snyder and screenwriter David S. Goyer have been given the job of working on the "Man Of Steel" sequel. In that report it was also stated that Goyer has signed a three picture deal with Warner Bros. which apparently includes the "Justice League" movie. Here's hoping he is writing that too, because he done a great job on "Man Of Steel" as well as pretty much most things he writes.

Bleeding Cool caught up with the writer and got a little more info on which direction they may be going with the shared universe. Here is an excerpt from their conversation:

David Goyer: It is our intention that, in success, this would be the zero issue and from this point onward, possible films could expand into a shared universe. In our world, the Man of Steel world, Zack has gone on record saying that we’re implying there are other superheroes in this world. But I don’t know that they’ve come forward yet. The idea is that Superman is the first one. There might be people helping people, but not in costumes, and that Superman comes forward and announces himself to the world. In him announcing himself, he’s the one that changes things.

Bleeding Cool: You’re positing a cause and effect?

David Goyer: Yes, yes absolutely, in our mind.

Bleeding Cool: And so now, Bruce Wayne will feel alright in his ears, where he might not have dressed up like that before. Is that the kind of thinking?

David Goyer: Well, yes… there’s definitely… I don’t want to get too in depth. Obviously, Zack and I have had conversations… but there would be a cause and effect. And that would extend to the collateral damage that happened, and to what other countries feel about the fact Superman calls America his home. Man of Steel doesn’t exist in a vacuum.

"Man Of Steel" 13 minute featurette

Any time I see ANYTHING about "Man Of Steel" I just explode with excitement, so when I heard there was a 13 minute feature I nearly shit my pants with excitement. Without sounding like I am being dramatic, but I genuinely think this film will change the comic book movie world for the better. It is going to be the stand out film made by either Marvel or DC, when Cavill was first cast I was a lit apprehensive but each time I see him as The Man Of Steel I am persuaded he was by far the best decision the casting team could have made. Anyway back to the feature, check it out below even keep yours eyes open for some previously unseen footage.

New "Man Of Steel" trailer

So, here it is another trailer for "Man Of Steel" this film just seems to get better and better every time I seen a new clip or trailer or even picture. The trailer reuses some footage we have already seen, the word epic is tossed about a lot in the movie world these days but saying this film will be "epic" might be an understatement. Snyder has done a great job, well from what we can decipher from watching the clips we've seen, depending on how good this film turns out to be. Snyder could put himself in the running for "The Justice League" film I think.

No Jimmy Olsen in "Man Of Steel"

Has anybody else noticed that there is no mention of any Jimmy Olsen in any of the posts about "Man Of Steel", I was doing a little looking around on the Wikipedia and IMDB page for the film an didn't see any actors rumoured to be playing him. But, on the IMDB cast page there is an actress called Rebecca Buller who is playing a character called "Jenny Olsen" has Jimmy been replaced by a lady for the new film?

So I decided to go back an watch the most recent trailer of the film released by Warner Brothers a few weeks ago. There is one scene where we see Laurence Fishburne (who is playing Perry White) running with Buller arm in arm away from a collapsing building. So Jimmy is now a Jenny? Way to confuse a guy Mr. Snyder! Below is a still I took from the trailer on Youtube, see what I mean?
