The Fast & Furious franchise may last longer than expected!

A few days ago, it was revealed that Universal were looking at Justin Lin to direct the upcoming two part finale to their Fast & Furious franchise. However, that now does not seem to be the case, Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley has recent spoken to Hollywood Reporter about the future of the franchise;

"We think there's at least three more," says Langley. "...I think it's still a growing franchise. We'll see what happens with 'Furious 7,' obviously, but our box office has grown over the past three or four films and internationally, in particular. So we think that there's more to mine there. But we're of course very mindful about fatigue."

Vin Diesel say XXX 3 script arrives next month

"As you know, the new 'XXX' script finally comes in next month," he writes, "and just this morning people are suggesting Katy Perry as the new X girl. /smile"

Vin Diesel talks 'Merging of Brands' for Marvel Phase 3

Vin himself has been talking a lot lately on his Facebook about working with Marvel, a project he and they are hoping to launch in 2016. He said that these talks lead to him being cast as Groot in the upcoming "Guardians Of The Galaxy".

Diesel says he and Marvel are still discussing the role for the mystery 2016 Phase 3 film .

"When I met with Marvel it wasn’t for anything immediate, it was to talk about a film that would be introduced in the Phase 3 part of Marvel, not for a few years. You wouldn’t be able to see it for a few years. In my mind, Marvel were doing it right, they were enrolling me at the ground level which is the best way to enroll me."

"I get the call, I go down to Marvel. A great meeting. It was even talking about something so big I can’t even talk about because it’s like the merging of brands in a way, which I won’t get into. That was something way, way, way, way, way down the road."

"We had agreed not to say anything about the specifics of the meeting. So, now I’ve got the fans who I love more than I love the industry, than I love everybody… I was thinking “I’ve got to be real with them, I’ve got to tell them something” and yet I want to be respectful of people’s process and if people like to do a slow reveal, you know?""

"Quite frankly, it would have been too much to say and it might have been anticlimactic to say 'We’re working on something for 2016' and so I just said 'You’re going to hear some really big news' and I left at the end of that and it went crazy."

"The next Monday, Marvel talks to me and says “We’re going to send something over in two weeks. We want to focus on the 2016 but we also want to, if possible, answer this growing request for something now.” I don’t have six months to play a character in the immediate future, it’s all booked… there was no way I was going to be able to deliver… after Comic-Con, we were at a stalemate…"

"Riddick" trailer is finally here

So here it is we finally have a trailer for the third instalment in the Riddick trilogy. The franchise gained a cult following after the first film released back in 2000 with "Pitch Black" then the sequel "The Chronicles Of Riddick" which released in 2004. We have heard rumours of another sequel in the franchise an here it is. I have been a huge fan of the character and even the franchise since its birth. However saying that, after watching the trailer I got the feel of it just being a remake of Pitch Black in a way.

The film was independently financed so the fact that it even happened if a miracle I seriously expected the film to be in the "one day" category but it made it out yay ha. Let's hope there is more tie-ins/spin offs within this universe that continue to explore Riddick as a character plus the dark evil world he lives in.

New "Fast And Furious 6" poster & shocking Justin Lin news...

Universal have released a full crew poster for the upcoming instalment in the Fast And Furious franchise "Fast & Furious 6". With this poster, this week we found out that Justin Lin won't be returning to do anymore "Fast" films, he joined the franchise for "Tokyo Drift" which I personally thought would have destroyed the franchise. Which I was wrong obviously, then he went on to do three more film including the newest one releasing soon.

We also recently heard from Vin Diesel himself that they are going to start shooting Fast & Furious 7 this Summer, reports are suggesting that Universal Pictures want to get the seventh film out by next year an that Justin Lin has opted not direct it.

If Lin had stayed on board with the Fast franchise then he would have tied John Glen for the record for most English language film directed by the same person passing some of the greats Steven Spielberg for his "Indiana Jones" franchise, George Lucas with "Star Wars" and David Yates with "Harry Potter".

Synopsis for "Fast & Furious 6"

We are awaiting the first footage for "Fast & Furious 6" which is set to air during this years Super Bowl in a couple of days. Universal have released a full synopsis for the upcoming film releasing in a few months, they have said;

Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson lead the returning cast of all-stars as the global blockbuster franchise built on speed races to its next continent in "Fast & Furious 6." Reuniting for their most high-stakes adventure yet, fan favorites Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges and Elsa Pataky are joined by badass series newcomers Luke Evans and Gina Carano.

Since Dom (Diesel) and Brian's (Walker) Rio heist toppled a kingpin's empire and left their crew with $100 million, our heroes have scattered across the globe. But their inability to return home and living forever on the lam have left their lives incomplete.

Meanwhile, Hobbs (Johnson) has been tracking an organization of lethally skilled mercenary drivers across 12 countries, whose mastermind (Evans) is aided by a ruthless second-in-command revealed to be the love Dom thought was dead, Letty (Rodriguez). The only way to stop the criminal outfit is to outmatch them at street level, so Hobbs asks Dom to assemble his elite team in London. Payment? Full pardons for all of them so they can return home and make their families whole again.

Building on the worldwide blockbuster success of Fast Five and taking the action, stunts and narrative to even greater heights, "Fast & Furious 6" sees director Justin Lin back behind the camera for the fourth time. He is supported by longtime producers Neal H. Moritz and Vin Diesel, who welcome producer Clayton Townsend back to the series.

Luke Evans joins "Fast 6"

Looks like they are finally putting the pieces together for the upcoming instalment of the "Fast & Furious" franchise. Production is set to begin this Summer, with filming to take place in both London an Berlin. I personally can not wait for it, I'm a sucker for the "Fast" films. With the addition of Luke Evans makes this film that bit more interesting. "We already knew that the Justin Lin-directed Fast and Furious 6 would be taking place overseas, and Johnson recently told Steve that they’ll specifically be filming in London and Berlin. Variety’s casting report notes that the plot involves everyone’s favourite street racing crew going across the pond to work on a heist job. Evans’ villain role is that of the leader of another crew attempting to pull off the same job. We previously learned that Jason Statham turned down a role in the film, so presumably he was offered this same villain that Evans will be playing."

This is pretty good news in my opinion,  I'm guessing that Luke will not start his filming for this film until he has finalised all his commitments to "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" which he is playing a skilled archer called Bard.

"Riddick" has a villain

No other than WWE's Dave Bautista is set to be the main villain in the upcoming Sci-Fi, the film is currently filming in Montreal. All we know about Bautista's character is his name is going to be "Diaz" and will be appearing throughout most of the film. Will be very interesting seeing these two huge men clash, especially considering that Riddick hasn't been beaten in the past two films.

"Riddick" official synopsis, cast and two pictures

When Vin Diesel first posted this picture on Facebook it came with a Status Update from himself;
"First time I posted about Riddick was back in 2009, Facebook was fresh…

They were asking me to come to the headquarters to talk about this new concept of communicating with fans. I was proud to lead that wave, yet all I was doing, was opening up about my passion – film.

So this picture of Our 2012 production of Riddick, is a cool victory for all of us… it shows that studios can be influenced by your voice.

P.s. Proud of Our Riddick team."

Recently Universal Studios released a statement about the upcoming film;
"MONTREAL, Feb. 3, 2012: Universal Pictures, One Race Films and Radar Pictures announced today that principal photography has begun on the action-driven, sci-fi thriller Riddick. The shoot will take place in Montreal.

The latest chapter of the groundbreaking saga that began with 2000′s hit sci-fi film Pitch Black and 2004′s The Chronicles of Riddick reunites writer/director David Twohy (A Perfect Getaway, The Fugitive) and star Vin Diesel (the Fast and Furious franchise, xXx). Diesel reprises his role as the antihero Riddick, a dangerous, escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the known galaxy.

The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.

The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.

Riddick also sees the return of Karl Urban (Star Trek, The Bourne Supremacy) as Vaako and introduces to the series Jordi Molla (Bad Boys II, Colombiana) as Santana, the arrogant captain of the mercenary ship; Matt Nable (Killer Elite) as Boss Johns, a man looking for answers; Katee Sackhoff (TV’s Battlestar Galactica) as the Nordic mercenary Dahl; and Bokeem Woodbine (upcoming Total Recall) as bounty hunter Moss. Rounding out the cast are Dave Bautista (the scorpion king 3:Battle for Redemption), Conrad Pla (Immortals), Raoul Trujillo (Apocalypto), Nolan Funk (TV’s Aliens in America) and two-time Grammy Award-nominated singer Keri Hilson.

The film is produced by Vin Diesel (upcoming Fast & Furious 6, Fast Five) and executive produced by Samantha Vincent (Fast Five, Fast & Furious) for One Race Films. Ted Field (The Last Samurai, Pitch Black) produces for Radar Pictures, while Mike Drake (Dream House, A Nightmare on Elm Street) also executive produces.

Twohy is joined on the film by a talented behind-the-scenes team, including director of photography David Eggby (Pitch Black, Mad Max), production designer Joseph Nemec III (A Perfect Getaway, The Hills Have Eyes, Terminator 2: Judgment Day) and editor Tracy Hall (Limitless, A Perfect Getaway, The Flock).

The Riddick franchise has also produced two popular video games: The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena and The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. As well, Universal Studios Home Entertainment has released the anime DVD The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury.

Riddick, which is shooting in Montreal, Canada, is a One Race Films production. The film will be released by Universal Pictures in the U.S., and Lionsgate is handling international sales.

"Fast & Furious 6" teaser poster

This has to be possibly the worst teaser poster of all time, it's essentially just the films title an nothing more. Here it is for you to take a look at.
