MY dream Marvel Phase 4

After the release of Ant-Man this Summer we will be concluding Phase 2 of the MCU, I decided to look forward to what I would love to see in the future after Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 & 2. After the events of those films we will be entering Phase 4, so here is what I would like to see happen during this "phase". Along with the characters I would like to see in the next phase, also, I will put up my ideal casting (current actors) even though the films will not happen for another 5+ years, I just LOVE fancasting if I am honest. The list will not be in any sort of order, just names as I spin them off from my head. This is NOT a list of what I expect to happen, this is just a list of what I would like to see. Would LOVE to know your "dream Phase 4" either drop a comment or hit us up on Twitter with who you would pick for yours.

Captain Britain

This is the ultimate dream idea for me, Captain Britain is a thoroughly enjoyable character, originally designed as the British equivalent of Captain America. While some have always seen Captain Britain as a bit of a joke, I can assure you, some of us Brits love him. It's super bad ass that we got out own slice of the Marvel pie (he is not the only one), however for me, he is one of the better British characters. My ideal actor to play Brian Braddock, would be Charlie Hunnam, huge fan of his work, can see him being a pretty bad ass Captain Britain.

I'd love to see the "Captain Britain and MI-13" arc by Paul Cornell from 2008 adapted to the big screen. I read it last Summer and it revived my love of Braddock, I'd like to think a lot of British fans of the MCU and the books would like to see this arc included in the future of the franchise.
 (There is talk Cap B, being part of X-Men universe so owned by Fox, would love confirmation if anybody knows either way, thanks in advance).





Captain America 4

For me, the best way to progress Captain America in the MCU, would be a widely unpopular choice I imagine and that is to have Steve Rogers killed off in Infinity War Part 1 or 2, having Bucky step up to fill his shoes. After Bucky takes over for Steve, I think he should go solo in Phase 4, most people will know Sebastian Stan signed a multi picture deal rumoured to be 9 films, already featuring in Cap 1, Cap 2 and filming Cap 3 (time of writing). So he has a good amount left on his contract, plus after reading some issues in which he takes over after Steve's death in the comics, I can really see even the more casual comic film fan enjoying Bucky taking over.

I'd like to see the "Madbomb" arc from King Jack Kirby himself adapted for Bucky, I know it is Cap and Falcon however pretty simple to tweak it a bit to have Bucky and Falcon teaming up to save America. While the stories started off brilliant towards the end they fell off a bit, but there is so much to take from that arc I think would be perfect on the big screen.






Guardians Of The Galaxy 3

I recently started reading the Marvel NOW latest version of Guardians Of The Galaxy I have completely fell in love with this team. The sooner this team gets on the big screen the better, and now with Sony open to Marvel using their purchased properties, there is a big possibility that Agent Venom can also join the team. My dream Guardians team up would be, Groot, Rocket Racoon, Gamora, Drax, Star-Lord, Captain Marvel, Agent Venom and Adam Warlock (who would actually be Star-Lords Dad). All returning cast, with Yvonne Strahovski as Captain Marvel, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) as Adam Warlock and Travis Fimmel as Agent Venom.

I will be honest I have read VERY little Guardians, before the film was even announced I wasn't even aware of them. Since the film though I have read some stuff, personal favourite is "Cosmic Avengers" by Bendis, McNiven and Pichelli. It's a very fun arc which I could see James Gunn doing perfectly if he were to make the third instalment, which should NOT be called "vol 3".






Thor 4

Some may dislike this idea, it is a character that conjures up many arguments, I will just say that this newly revised female Thor is outselling the previous Thor by 30%, proof in itself that she is vastly popular. I have read a fair share of the comics myself while very different to what I was used to it was a thoroughly enjoyable read. With the release of Captain Marvel in 2018 and Wonder Woman in 2017 I think we will finally get to see female characters given the screentime they deserve, plus after this years "Mad Max Fury Road" we have been given further proof that females can be equal and even more badass than their male counterparts. Personally I wouldn't choose the route they went in the comics and use the character they used, personally I'd pick Lady Sif to take over and have Jaimie Alexander continue the role.

With this character being so young, I decided to choose a Thor arc I particularity enjoyed I not so long ago read the Surtur Saga and couldn't put it down. I'd be a happy camper if we ever got to see that arc adapted to the big screen even with my complaints of Loki in recent times, I would put that all aside to see this wonderful arc by Walt Simonson which is possibly in my top 10 arcs of all time.




Spider-Man & Daredevil

This is a team up I have been dying to see since I was extremely young, I have loved Spidey since, well I couldn't even pinpoint a time I haven't dreamt about these two joining forces. As for actors I 100% back Charlie as Matt, he was superb in the first season of "Daredevil" and willing to give Tom Holland the benefit of the doubt, personal favourite choice would be Dylan O'Brien though. That being said I am excited to see Holland take on the role.

Let's be honest ANY arc in which Spidey & Daredevil team up to take down Kingpin, this is all I have wanted in the comic world.











Iron Man (barely) 4

I know this one is kind of obvious, but I feel like this is the perfect way forward for the franchise. Ty was introduced in Iron Man 3 as you all will know. I said the second I seen it that he will be Iron Man in the future, now that Simpkins is becoming a huge name Jurassic World & Insidious I can see it even more. Not sure if I see Tony stepping down or dying, I just see it making sense that Ty's character take over the mantel of Iron Man.

As for the story, really hard to say, I do not want a reusing of a previous Iron Man arc from the books (not that I am familiar with any late teen Stark arcs?). I'd rather see a completely original story used in this.


Avengers 4 (2 parts)

A vs X style story, leading into having X-Men back in the MCU for Phase 5.

Avengers consist of Cap, Thor, Scarlet Witch, Skye, Cap Britain, Daredevil, Spidey and new Iron Man.

X-Men consist of Cyclops, Beast, Jean Grey, Wolverine, Mystique, Rogue and Gambit.

That seems like a LOT of characters I know, but this stroy-arc needs a good amount of members as the book cover shows. It's a fun run, if you haven't read it I recommend it. This would be the perfect way of bringing the entire Marvel back under one banner. May be a strange way to start off a world after such a story, but I can see it bringing in a lot of fans into the MCU that aren't already here (if there is many left), it may come across as a similar approach to Captain America Civil War in the way it's clashing the heroes. That being said I can see this being Civil War and that bit more on the big screen, in the book form Civil War is better I just see A vs X making a brilliant film maybe even better than Civil War translation to the big screen.


Shows;

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D season 8 - yes you read that correctly, in my dream Phase 4 "Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D" is still alive I absolutely adore the show and can't really imagine not having it on my television weekly! By this point I'd like to see the show have a bit of shake up, more "powered" people in the team hunting down bad "powered" people.

Punisher - An origin story (prequel), build on his appearance in "Daredevil" to would have to recast Jon unfortunately while I doubt he will be anything but brilliant. I'd like to see Frank becoming Punisher told on the small screen. (Art by BossLogic)

Black Widow - Even a Netflix prequel movie, show us what the whole "Budapest" reference is all about. Obviously right now I would love to bring back Johannson. If not a Widow show I could definitely see a Widow/Hawkeye team up. (Art by SG Posters)

Blade - This is a MUST at some point in the future of the MCU especially after Marvel got the rights back I can't see a reason to why Blade should not be rebooted into the MCU. As it currently stands John Boyega has interest in playing the character so he is obviously the go to guy, he's British and young too BIG pluses for the future of Blade I think.

Godzilla 2014 review

I have been waiting to watch this film since the release day was announced nearly two years ago, growing up I loved the 1998 version, which I watched pretty recently it did NOT hold up well ha.

THIS REVIEW HAS SPOILERS!!!

Director Gareth Edwards was given the job to helm "Godzilla" after his sublime directorial efforts in the small budgeted "Monsters" back in 2010. However this time around he was able to make a monster movie with the budget you'd expect to see for this kind of film. That is not to say that he only focused on the big money special effects shots, he also kept true to characters.

With Edwards concentrating on the human side of a monster movie in "Monsters" it wasn't a surprise to see him see a similar approach with Godzilla. A prologue set in 1999 sees scientist Dr Ishiro Serizawa (Ken Watanabe) discovering a vastly huge skeleton in the Philippines, returning to the nuclear power plant he works we are introduced to Joe Brody (Cranston) who witnesses the complete and utter devastation of a nuclear meltdown losing his wife in the event. Fast forward 15 years and we now see his young son (not so young now) Ford Brody (Taylor-Johnson) returning home after a tour with the US Navy.

Joe Brody continues to obsess over the incident 15 years earlier, still living in Japan, the vast differing elements of the lives between Joe and Ford set up the tone for the emotion you're about to experience throughout the film. The film is very emotionally driven and we see this from the get go, Craston delivers some of the beautifully tragic moments we have came to expect from a man of his calibre, however the film is set down a bit in the female department, not by the actresses themselves, just that they are not given nearly enough screen time to act that especially goes for Elizabeth Olsen. Sally Hawkins is given a bit more screen time, however not much acting is needed she is just spouting out scientific jargon.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson portrays some nicely acted scenes, playing the very convincing Naval commanding role. Leaving the film without any out and out human hero, but the same can be said about having no human villain. 

We are made to wait a fair amount of time before we get to see a look at the "man" we all came to see, the titular character. There was a wonderful piece I loved, in which it cuts to a TV news report and you see the action on a small screen there buy you feel the destruction still. Some people didn't enjoy this criticising him using this small scale idea with his huge budget, I for one commend it, was a brilliant scene.

Edwards use of the small scale reveals helps build up the tension, which in turn results in seeing the monster and you instantly remember all the small scale stuff and fall in love even more. You see the jagged spikes, peaking the surface of the sea and you know you're mere seconds away from one of the best monster reveals ever. Then for them small brief moments you see him in all his glory you know it's right, he's a pure animalistic beast as you want from Godzilla not a rip off T-Rex.

Overall I was very impressed with the scale of the film and what Edwards was able to do given this was his first cross over into the big budget blockbusters. He does stay true to his POV based work using visors, cameras and even car windscreens to immerse you in the film. However I will say given this was a Godzilla film he does come across as a supporting character to Aaron Taylor-Johnson, this may leave some audience members dismayed, you just have to appreciate climatic moments and feel their significance when they happen.

My MAIN complaint is that hiring an actor like Bryan Cranston, and killing him off before the hour mark was a HUGE let down, that for me took away from the whole film, Cranston is by far the best talent but wasn't given enough time for you to fall in love with. If they were to have given Cranston a bigger role in the film I would have given it a higher rating, but for me it just lacked that.

5 actresses who could take over as Thor

You may or may not have heard, but Marvel have took the shocking approach of replacing Thor in comics with a now female version. I know it is far to early to even speculate on a female Thor replacing Chris Hemsworths Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While it may be early, that's not to say that it would not be fun as heck to speculate.

Marvel Editor-In-Chief Alex Alonso did say in the interview regarding the change of gender "This really is the one Thor for an extended period of time for which we have no real exit plan" with Time. So it is easily within the realm of possibility that Chris could be replaced in the future, rumour has it he has three movies left on his contract one being "Avenger: Age Of Ultron" and obviously "Thor 3" could his third remaining movie be the end of Hemsworths Thor? As we said it's in the realm of possibilities. Here are five actresses I think could take over live action Thor if the opportunity arose for them, the order they are down in are not in a best to worst or anything. They're just the five I chose.

Jamie Alexander - Alex Alonso "one of the women in Thor's life picks up the hammer. She is in fact worthy. and she becomes Thor" So the first person that should come to mind is Sif, played by the incredibly beautiful and talented Jamie Alexander. People may argue Jane Foster played by Natalie Portman may be suitable, but for me neither Norse looking nor does she have the height.

Ronda Rousey - Ronda may not be know to you, and to be honest I had never heard of her until she was cast in "The Expendables 3". She is a 27 year old UFC fighter who according to fans I have spoken to could hold her own against most men in her division. While Thor isn't know for his hand-to-hand combat he most certainly does encounter some none Moljnir related fights as will his female counterpart. We will just have to see over the coming years how her acting holds up against her ass kicking skills.

Gina Carano - Gina also has the same sort of credentials that Rousey comes with, expect for the fact we have seen Carano act on a few occasions. I really enjoyed her in "Fast & Furious 6" and "Haywire" she isn't the best of actresses, however she is enjoyable to watch. So given her little bit more experience with the acting world she may be a slightly better choice than her fellow UFC fighter.

Kate Beckinsale - The extremely talented Mrs Beckinsale known by us all for undeniable beauty and her role in the Blockbuster franchise Underworld. She sure has heck has the acting ability and she can certainly hold a film if female Thor was to go solo, just look at Selene in Underworld.

Katee Sackhoff - Who doesn't want Sackhoff to take over a lead Action star? I know I do, for years there has been talk of her taking the lead in an Action movie. In more recent years she is being touted for the lead in "The Expendables" female spin-off "Expendabelles". So she already has the hype in this Action world, she can command the attention of the audience when she is on screen like a Norse God would.

Could Video Games be Hollywoods new Comic Book movies?

I seen a post over on The Movie Blog called "Video Game Films Could Be Hollywood’s Next Comic Book Movie" the article itself is a great read, as a lot of their stuff is. This article got me thinking about what games I would love to see made into a movie and also made me come to the realisation the video game world is a relatively untapped market when it comes to adapting other media into movies.

I am not saying there is lack of video game movies, we have a lot, Resident Evil franchise, Silent Hill 1 & 2, Hitman, Max Payne and Mortal Kombat just name a few. Some of the movie have been very enjoyable while others have been so lacking in anything good that they make you want to gouge your eyes out with spoons i.e "Max Payne" which is unfortunate because Wahlberg is a one of my all time favourite movie stars.

When it comes to the Video Game world, I'm sure fellow gamers will admit there is truly countless games that could be picked and made into movie/TV series. At last count the online game World Of Warcraft has 7.6 million subscribers at last account sometime in 2013, that is potentially £68 million using the average of 1 ticket each on UK ticket price cost of £9, so it is safe to say that is looking like a healthy return already. Warcraft already has a release date along with Assassins Creed already in the works a potential 6th instalment in Resident Evil and Agent 47 currently filming.

Plus we also found out last week that Sam Raimi the genius behind "Evil Dead" had signed on to make a big screen version of Last Of Us. I personally only got around to playing Last Of Us last month an it was a bit of a let down for me as a game, however when playing through I thought "this would make a great TV Series" it has that kind of layout when you play through it, then I heard it was being made into a film I thought, yeah go for it it will make a great watch.

Top 10 heist movies!

So ever since I completed Grand Theft Auto 5 I have been dying to watch a big heist/robbery style film, I have seen all the obvious ones so I thought I would do a top 5 of my personal favourites when it comes to the big job!

I thought about including "Inception" in the list, I just couldn't bring myself to include. While this
film is a great film, the heist is all in the mind, so for me it is not a true heist. However, this is definitely an honourable mention, more than likely even top of that list!

Becoming a Movie Blogger!

Over the past few months people have asked me about how I got into Blogging, it was something I never really planned on doing. However, I did plan on writing a novel/screenplay I know that is a cliche "oh another hipster writing a screenplay" for me it's not like that. I have been in love with movies since I was 3 an first watched "Tom and Jerry: The Movie" me and my brother must have watched that film hundreds of times.

So with my love for movies I started using movie Blogs daily in my teens an have been using them since. The growth of Blogging in recent years has been astronomical to say the least they are about EVERYTHING so I decided that I would start my own. You know get a feel for writing and hopefully get myself a little publicity for when/if I finally release my own work.

When I started doing this in November, 2011 I thought it would last a few weeks, maybe a couple of months. Here I am over 2 years later with about 36,200 views under my belt. I started this for no other reasons than my love for movies and writing.

I will say to anybody who is thinking of doing this themselves DO NOT do it to try and make yourself famous or rich I can say right now you will find yourself heavily let down.

I'd say at least 3 times I day I check multiple websites in order to find the news I want to post about, I used a variety of different sites because I like how they write their articles, the difference in news the post and just for the love of movies. Here are the sites I check daily;

Top 5 90's Sitcoms

The '90's was by far the best time for Sitcoms, if you disagree I strongly suggest you go back an catch up on some of the shows you've most definitely missed out on. Not only are they written much better than some of the crap that is on our Television today, but, they have characters that actually work within the story arc. A lot of Sitcoms that started post 2000 in my opinion are just drivel, they play on shock comedy or sexual innuendos, that's not to say the Sitcoms of the '90's didn't. They just done it in a way that they used proper jokes as well, more intellectual jokes that don't play on the prepubescent, immature mind we all grew out of. I personally am a sucker for Sitcoms though, I must have watch 100s of seasons of countless shows, going back as far as "On The Buses" from the late 1960's in England up to present shows like "New Girl" which started in 2010. Probably the best thing about Sitcoms is that you can always related to the characters in your every day life, you see things happen to them an think to yourself "that would definitely happen to me" or "I can imagine that happening to such an such a person".

Some people might even ask "Do Sitcoms even matter anymore?" before the days of the "Friends" cast getting paid millions for a single episode. Back in the '90's people planned their days around when Sitcoms were on Television, people these days only seem to care about the more Dramatic Television shows like "Sons Of Anarchy" or "Dexter". I am in no way saying that these shows aren't good, but it's the fans of these shows that are killing of the love of Sitcoms in the modern era. Still there is something to be said about the love of a good Sitcom, Sitcoms in general seem to get renewed even with lower audiences than the "big show stoppers".
Take a look at "How I Met Your Mother" that show has been chewed up an spit out by countless viewers, but they have recently been renewed for a ninth season. I mean come on can you imagine the likes of the bigger Drama shows being renewed if you waited 8 years for the one piece of information that actually mattered to be revealed. Like the genre it represents "How I Met Your Mother" is far past its prime, the writing is failing, the jokes aren't funny, nothing new sees to happen and it has all became predictable. Even the performance of the actors has slipped in recent years, it feels like they have just became comfortable in their roles an they are just doing it for the paycheck. Yet people still keep watching it, myself personally have been watching HIMYM since October 2008 when it aired for one night on BBC 2 in the UK. I will probably watch the ninth an final season to, just for sentimental reasons if anything I have genuinely given up caring the mother actually is at this point.

And obviously I have to mention "The Simpsons", which personally I don't consider a Sitcom but a lot of people do. I do love "The Simpsons" though, I have watched it for as long as I can remember Sundays at 6pm on Sky One, me, my brother an my Dad (if not working) would all sit down an watch it together.

5 - "Frasier"

"Frasier" one of the most successful spin-offs in Television history without a doubt, easily the best Sitcom spin-off ever. It may have started off life as a hopeful spin-off from the incredibly popular "Cheers", but "Frasier" turned out to be as successful as "Cheers" some people would even say more so. Towards the end the show lacked the comedic flair previous seasons had but what do you expect after 11 seasons, plus another 11 seasons of "Cheers" had used ideas that would have been used by "Frasier" writers. The humour used in "Frasier" is a lot more intellectual than most other Sitcoms due to the fact of the high brow life the Craine brothers lead, played by Kelsey Grammer (Fraiser) and David Hyde Price (Niles) supported by other actors and actresses John Mahoney (Martin Craine), Jane Leeves (Daphne Moon), Peri Hilpin (Roz Doyle) and of course Moose the Jack Russell who played Eddie later played by his offspring Enzo. Frasier Craine appeared in 264 episodes of "Frasier" plus another 201 episodes of "Cheers" I find that astonishing, that is an unbelievable amount of episodes for one character across two shows.

4 - "Everybody Loves Raymond"

"Everybody Loves Raymond" is a very family orientated show, the comedy on the other hand can get a little fiesty. This is another show that will take a little while to get into, some of the characters are nearly impossible to put up with, I say some Ray's mother is enough to drive anybody insane ha ha. The show itself is kind of like a '90's version of "According To Jim" which is another great Sitcom, which missed my top 5 list due to its release in 2000 I thought it was earlier, it has that '90's feel about it. Ray is the main protagonist in the show but his brother an parents are definite scene stealer's they are incredible comedy actors. Frank Barone, Rays dad who was played by the late great Peter Boyle was easily my favourite character his constant sly digs at Marie (Rays mum) had me in stitches most episodes. The comedy is based on real life events of Ray Romano, what kind of incredible life did Mr. Romano lead ha.

3 - "Friends"

Where to start with "Friends" it's probably everybodys favourite Sitcom, and I can see why. It has a pretty big main cast, but they are all incredible characters David Schwimmer (Ross), Courney Cox (Monica), Jennifer Aniston (Rachel), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe), Matt Le Blanc (Joey) and Matthew Perry (Chandler). One of the best things that "Friends" gives you is that straight from college part of your life, the show centres around the more scary part of life. The time when we all have to "grow up" and put a hilarious twist on it, another thing I like is how they all have average/everyday jobs unlike other Sitcoms where the main cast have high paying specialist jobs. Over the 10 seasons you will fall in love with all 6 characters each for their own reasons Chandler with his jokes, Joey with his idiotic ways, Ross with his insane situations, Phoebe with her lovable demeanour, Rachel with her sophistication and Monica with her crazy obsession for tidiness.

2 - "Seinfeld" 

"Seinfeld" frequently described as the "Sitcom about nothing", I can see where that description comes from. The show doesn't really centre around any sort of end goal or over lying story, which is kind of unusual for a Sitcom as you might know. The show is just built around an every day New Yorker who is a Comedian played by Jerry Seinfeld, the show featured 4 incredible characters each incredibly funny in their own rights but my personal favourite was Cosmo Kramer played by Michael Richards the other two main characters were Elaine Benes played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Geroge Costanza played by Jason Alexander. Kramers insane antics are what a great show, perfect or as close as any show has been. Not only did the show have four great main characters it also had just as funny supporting characters over the years, including; Jerry Stiller, Bryan Cranston (for like 5 episodes), Wayne Knight & Len Lesser. I find it hard to say something is "one of the greatest ever" but to say it about "Seinfeld" doesn't even seem such a stretch to me, the show is so incredibly written by Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David plus a bunch of writers as well of course.

1 - "The King Of Queens"

"The King Of Queens" truly the last of the great '90's Sitcoms to come to an end, the show ended May 14th, 2007. Genuinely a sad day for the Television world if you ask me, this really was the end of what I consider the Golden Era of Sitcoms since I've been alive that is. The story revolves around your everyday man, just a simple delivery man with an unbelievably beautiful wife who's life is turned upside down, inside out and flipped seven ways from Sunday when his wife's father is forced to move in with them. It will probably take a few episodes before you get hooked, but when you do you will fall in love with the comedic performances of Kevin James, Jerry Stiller, Patton Oswalt and Leah Remini. Kevin James in my opinion is by far the single most underrated Comedy actor currently working. Ever since "The King Of Queens" finished I have always wanted it to come back as a new season or even a Television Movie, I would love to see how they are all getting on now I even had a crazy idea of Doug and Carrie appearing in an episode or a few of "Rules Of Engagement" due to Sandlers connection to Kevin James an the fact Happy Madison is part of the production on the show.
