Hugh Jackman talks "Days Of Future Past"

Next Summer we get to see the ultimate in X-Men movies when they bring one of their greatest story arcs to the big screen in "X-Men: Days Of Future Past". The film will see the combination of the original cast along with the new guys and girls from "X-Men: First Class". Hugh Jackman has been speaking to Access Hollywood, here is what he had to say;

"I know, having sat at Comic-Con on that panel with that extraordinary cast, I keep saying it's like two movies in one, but with the size of it it's really three in one. It really is going to blow people away because of the story. Bryan Singer, I think, is going to become the first director to make increasingly better movies in a franchise, I'm not sure if there's anyone else that's done it."

Patrick Stewart talks "X-Men: Days Of Future Past"

Prof. X himself has given us a little insight in to what is going on with "X-Men: Days Of Future Past" at Comicpalooza.

"I think it is going to certainly be the X-Men of all X-Men pictures, and one doesn't want to tempt fate, but perhaps also the blockbuster of 2014. It was a wonderful experience to reunited with those people."

Stewart began to elaborate on a few details for the film, including Charles Xavier's return.

"It's been 6 or 7 years since X-Men 3, where you will recall that Charles Xavier was vaporized by whats-her-name, Jean Grey. And you're asking yourselves, 'If you were vaporized, how can you be in the next X-Men movie?' Anybody got any ideas how that came about?" One audience member yelled out "Time travel," to which Stewart responded: "Yeah, that's exactly it. I guess. There will be an explanation, but it was a little puzzling for me because I thought my X-Men days were over. So, it's something to look forward to."

Quicksilver in "Avengers 2" and "Days Of Future Past"?

In recent weeks it was confirmed that Quicksilver would be featuring in "Avengers 2", an now it has been confirmed the character will feature in "X-Men: Days Of Future Past" played by Evan Peters who is more than likely known by most for his roles in "America Horror Story".

"Though it seemed like the cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past was all filled up, director Bryan Singer just revealed one last addition. Through Twitter, Singer announced that “American Horror Story” regular and Kick-Ass co-star Evan Peters is playing Quicksilver, a character with superhuman speed who happens to be the son of Magneto and the twin brother of Scarlet Witch." via FirstShowing


A lot of people questioned how he was going to work in two different films that are being made by two different studios. Luckily for them the great guys over at Superhero Hype asked Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige that exact question, read what he had to say;

"There’s a specific arrangement with those two characters that would allow us to use them with Avengers, but not discuss or reference their mutant or Magneto-related lineage. [Fox] can use them as mutants and as Magneto’s relatives, but cannot have anything to do with The Avengers.” So while Fox and Marvel can use the characters, they’re limited as to what parts of the comic book mythology they can use. This has the potential to create some confusion for fans, but there will likely be plenty of explanation online if necessary."

So he will exist within the two universes, and have relationships with The X-Men and The Avengers but each universe will not mention the relationship he has with the other group of superheros, right got it? Have I? It's upsetting that the studios can't come to some sort of agreement for these type of events like Spider-Man and possible Avengers connection. The plots for both studios would be exponentially better if they mixed up their characters more. Like if Quicksilvers origins were linked back to him being the son of Magneto and having The Avengers come in an help fight Magneto an his army of whatever. Just could be so much better if the studios didn't own certain characters.

 

Peter Dinklage on "Days Of Future Past" set

So there has been a lot of speculation circling around the Internet in recent weeks of who exactly Peter Dinklage will be playing in "X-Men: Days Of Future Past". Now it looks like Mr. Singer has sort of confirmed who is it Bolivar Trask is the name on peoples lips. Can't really say I'm a big Dinklage fan (no pun intended) only ever seen him "Death At A Funeral" so excited to actually see why people rate him so highly (also not another pun).

Halle Berry joins "Days Of Future Past"

Ever since Bryan Singer took over on "X-Men: Days Of Future Past" there has been rumours about cast members from the previous films might be coming back. With Hugh Jackman, Sir Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore reprising their roles, we can now add Halle Berry to that list.

Halle Berry: That I’m gonna be there. For sure.
CS: Is there anything you didn’t get a chance to do in the first three X-Men films that you’d like to do in this one?
Berry: You know, I always love to do more as Storm. That’s a character that I really love and people seem to respond well to me playing Storm.
CS: She seemed to become more like you as the series progressed.
Berry: She did?
CS: Her personality approached yours a little bit more. To the extent that you're a weather-manipulating mutant.
Berry: Okay! [Laughs.]
CS: Are you familiar with the comic issues this one is based on?
Berry: Yes.
CS: So you've had a chance to look them over?
Berry: Yes. A little bit, yes.
CS: We’re looking forward to seeing you back in the role.

Bryan Singer teases X-Men characters

Bryan Singer is the ultimate tease! Today, IGN spoke with Singer an asked him if he wanted Cyclops and Jean Grey to appear in "Days Of Future Past".
  
"Who wouldn’t?," he laughed, mysteriously. "Who wouldn’t? That’s all I can say."

James Marsden and Famke Janssen who played Cyclops and Jean Grey in "X-Men" and "X2" before they were both killed off in Brett Ratners "X-Men: The Last Stand". However, considering the time-travel story arc used within "Days Of Future Past", both characters could easily return to the franchise.

Brayn Singer teases Dinklage's role

Bryan Singer seems to be having a lot of fun surrounding the role in which Peter Dinklage will play, we all know that Dinklage signed on last week to star in "Days Of Future Past" as the main villain. The Interenet has been up in a craze trying to figure out who on earth Dinklage will actually play, some people have theorised that he will be CGI (like Andy Serkis in "Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes"), others have suggested he may be Bolivar Trask some saying M.O.D.O.K a usual villain for Captain America or The Watcher usually pitted against The Fantastic Four.

However, it seems Singer has put all these rumours to rest in a recent interview;

"He’s not going to be a CGI character, he’ll be himself. Not that he’ll be playing Peter Dinklage, he’ll be playing this character. It’s not a shy character. He’s just such a phenomenal actor; I’m a huge fan of Peter’s and Game of Thrones. He was my first choice and I was really happy [about the casting]. It’s so funny to talk to him because he does that impeccable accent [on Game of Thrones] and then you talk to him and he’s this guy from New Jersey."

The interview lends more belief to the most recent rumour that has surfaced, that Dinklage will in fact play the creator of the mutant hutning sentinals, Bolivar Trask. We may not know for a few weeks or even months what character Dinklage will be portraying but for now it is fun to speculate, so let the speculation begin.

With the Tweet he also left the caption "How many days until Comic Con?" therefore confirming that the film will be present at Comic Con this year, we can only pray that some footage is filmed in order for us to see at the time.

"X-Men: Days Of Future Past" update

The casting list for Bryan Singers "X-Men: Days Of Future Past", Shawn Ashmore will be returning as Iceman along with Ellen Page as Kitty Pryde and Anna Paquin as Rogue.

"Director Bryan Singer announced via Twitter Saturday three additional original trilogy actors will be returning for 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Anna Paquin, who played Rogue in the first three films, as well as Ellen Page (Kitty Pryde) and Shawn Ashmore (Iceman) will be appearing in Fox’s followup to 2011’s mutant prequel, X-Men: First Class."

Singer also stated that he had a conversation about time travel with James Cameron, plus the addition of Kitty & Rogue there may be a possibility of a proper translation of Days Of Future Past to the big screen time travel and all.


"It’s epic. We get to bring both casts together. We’ve cracked it in a way that makes sense. I had a two-hour conversation with James Cameron about time travel, string theory, multiverses and all that. You have to create your rules and stick with them. That’s what makes TERMINATOR and BACK TO THE FUTURE work so well. And there are certain mechanisms in X-Men, certain powers, perceptions and characters, that make this possible. More than any of the movies I’ve made, it comes to me much more quickly than on other films. With Superman Returns I struggled a lot. I guess it’s either my history with the X-Men universe or I have some kind of knack for this particular story."

January Jones not in "X-Men Days Of Future Past"

Since the original announcement of the film, the cast has grown and grown, but now it is looking like we've lost Emma Frost played by the beautiful January Jones. She has also said she doesn't really know anything about the film either.

“I don’t know that I’m in it, I don’t think Emma’s in this one.  Well they haven’t told me if I am (laughs).  I wouldn’t put it past them though, I got the script for the first one on the airplane on the way there.  It’s called Days of Future Past I think, and I think it’s more about James [McAvoy] and Michael [Fassbender] and then Patrick [Stewart] and Ian [McKellan], and I think it’s gonna go back and forth with those so I don’t think Emma’s in those bits.  I don’t know, I really don’t know.”

"Days Of Future Past" casting news

Not only is Bryan Singer reprising his role as director but he has also confirmed some huge news on his Twitter. The incredible Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are both returning to reprise their roles as Magneto and Professor X plus he also confirmed the return of Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy & Nicholas Hoult as Mystique, Magneto, Professor X and Beast.

This is pretty exciting news for anybody who is a fan of the X-Men franchise in my opinion, lets hope they all come together for another great X-Men movie.

"Days Of Future Past" will be X-Men meets Terminator

I had never heard of the "Days Of Future Past" story arch before it was announced that the sequel to "X-Men First Class" would revolve around it. Then I done a bit of research, holy heck this film will kick ass! The sheer vast-nest of how epic this story is, will take a ballsy director to make it watchable. Sentinels ruling the planet, old man Wolverine and huge character development. Millar recently described the upcoming film and had some choice words to say "X-Men meets Terminator".

"Vaughn is going for a big sci-fi style thing with X-Men: Days of Future Past.”
He also teased the plot of the film, calling it “X-Men meets The Terminator”.
“You’ve got robots, you’ve got time travel, you’ve got superheroes – it’s got everything in one film,” he claimed.
He also said that it is “no spoiler on [his] part” to say that the film goes into an apocalyptic future.
“Cost-wise it’s going to go up, and ambitious-wise it’s gone up,” Millar noted. “But Vaughn can handle it. Vaughn made Kick-Ass for $28 million."

Of course the cost is going up, you can't have Wolverine ripping apart a Sentinel for cheap can you? I think not. They have to have Wolverine in the film right? If they don't they sure as hell are missing out on probably the best thing to come out of the X-Men franchise an that is Hugh Jackman bad assing it up as Wolverine. 

X-Men First Class sequel story revealed

Comic book fans get your geek on, Bryan Singer Producer of "X-Men: First Class" has confirmed that the storyline for the sequel will be based on the very popular story arch "Days of Future Past" from the original saga of comics. The "Days of Future Past" storyline involves the 1980's X-Men team.

"In a video sitdown with IGN, Singer says that the movie — currently being written, and set to start shooting “in a few months” — will be called Days of Future Past, which is also the title of one of the most memorable X-Men story arcs ever."

Michael Fassbender understands Magneto's pain

In a recent interview Michael Fassbender went into the depths of his recently portrayed character "Magneto". It is a cliche to say that Magneto as a character has so many different levels of complexity, hes so much more than some nut job shooting beams an controlling metal just for the sake of destruction. Magnetos story is more about pain, loss and vengeance than a lot of the other Marvel Universe Characters. Fassbender was the most recent actor to portray Magneto an FOX have signed him to a "binding" contract to reprise the role in two more films.

I get where [Magneto] is coming from, that’s for sure – having read the source material, the comic books. From what we know with human beings, history has told us that we’re a pretty destructive race, so you can see where he’s coming from. It’s always interesting for me to have the villains doing positive things as well as negative or destructive things. I just think it’s more realistic.

It’s like the actions will define the character... but it’s more about making sure that it’s intelligently written and there’s a real driving force, there’s real drama there, relationships are interesting, and that it’s not lazy in anyway. A lot of the times I think with action films, the plot can be pretty weak because it’s taking a back seat to the action sequences and the special effects. What we wanted to do with X-Men: First Class was definitely the reverse of that. We wanted to really focus on the characters and the plot and then have the action sequence there to sort of enhance the story.

Hopefully we’ll get to do another one; that’s what we want to carry that vein through for sure. Personally, I do and I know James McAvoy feels the same. You know what’s interesting about Magneto and Professor X from the comic books as well, is there’s such a complexity to their relationship. It’s not just like clear-cut enemies; they’re best friends as well. In the comic books, even after they’ve had this sort of rift, Professor X asks Magneto to come back and look after the students at certain points. I think there’s always that complexity in their relationship. And we want to keep that alive as possible, because that’s I think a really interesting thing – the conflict there.
