"X-Men: Days Of Future Past" update
The casting list for Bryan Singers "X-Men: Days Of Future Past", Shawn Ashmore will be returning as Iceman along with Ellen Page as Kitty Pryde and Anna Paquin as Rogue.
"Director Bryan Singer announced via Twitter Saturday three additional original trilogy actors will be returning for 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Anna Paquin, who played Rogue in the first three films, as well as Ellen Page (Kitty Pryde) and Shawn Ashmore (Iceman) will be appearing in Fox’s followup to 2011’s mutant prequel, X-Men: First Class."
Singer also stated that he had a conversation about time travel with James Cameron, plus the addition of Kitty & Rogue there may be a possibility of a proper translation of Days Of Future Past to the big screen time travel and all.
"It’s epic. We get to bring both casts together. We’ve cracked it in a way that makes sense. I had a two-hour conversation with James Cameron about time travel, string theory, multiverses and all that. You have to create your rules and stick with them. That’s what makes TERMINATOR and BACK TO THE FUTURE work so well. And there are certain mechanisms in X-Men, certain powers, perceptions and characters, that make this possible. More than any of the movies I’ve made, it comes to me much more quickly than on other films. With Superman Returns I struggled a lot. I guess it’s either my history with the X-Men universe or I have some kind of knack for this particular story."

Paul Giamatti in talks to play The Rhino?
Reports are suggesting that actor Paul Giamatti is in talks to star in the sequel to "The Amazing Spider-Man" as The Rhino, Rhino was one of my favourite villains growing up. He was some super genius trying to take over the world or trying to kill heroes he was just a man in a super suit just robbing banks or being a general dick ha. If Giamatti does get the job, which I don't see why he wouldn't that means 2 huge villains for the upcoming film. Is that a good idea? For me I'm not it will be a good idea the are 2 big villains from the Spider-Man universe an will take a lot of screen time an that may take away from any character development. Especially considering Emma Stone and others want the story arc "The Night Gwen Stacy Died" to be incorporated into the film.
"Paul Giamatti and Felicity Jones are in talks to join the cast of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.”
The two would join a cast that includes Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone reprising their roles as Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy along with Jamie Foxx, Shailene Woodley and Dane DeHaan. Giamatti will play the role of “the Rhino” and it is unknown at this time what role Jones would be playing."

Star Wars 3D re-releases cancelled
We all remember a while back when George Lucas decided to re-release the entire Star Wars franchise in the chronological order, well looks like these plans have been scrapped, thankfully.
"Although plans were underway for theatrical 3D re-releases of both Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, Deadline reports that Lucasfilm will instead concentrate their attention on the upcoming Episode VII instead.
It is unclear how much post-conversion work has already been accomplished on the two remaining prequels (Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menancesaw a 3D re-release last year), but it is possible that both films could find a theatrical re-release sometime in the future or that the 3D versions could be released directly to Blu-ray."
I for one am unbelievably happy with this news, I don't think they should mess with the original trilogy at all in my opinion its the greatest trilogy of all time. Mess around with the prequel trilogy all you want ha.

James Mangold talks "The Wolverine"
Director James Mangold has given us a little inside to his upcoming film "The Wolverine", he is claiming that there will be a much darker tone to this instalment plus about 90% of it will be set in Japan. He has also said that his intentions are to completely "reboot" the film with a couple of tie ins to "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" the main one being Hugh Jackman.
The mixing of cultures will give the film an added dynamic that the last didn't have, Wolverine's stories that take place in Japan are incredible if you haven't read them I recommend you read them somehow. They could translate amazingly onto the big screen if done correctly although Mangold wanted to incorporate a lot of martial arts into the film, he also wants to preserve the animalistic nature of Wolverine's fighting style.
"The wonderful opportunity for me with this film is that 90 percent of it takes place in Japan, and even though other elements remain constant from the other pictures, namely Hugh Jackman, we kind of got our chance to reboot the tone and go a little darker and a little deeper than they’ve gone before with this character."
"There is a significant amount of Japanese spoken in the movie, and the cast is almost entirely Japanese. So there is this wonderful sense of cross-pollination between a very Western character and a far Eastern culture, and I think it’s very cool and something we haven’t seen so far. I think there is a lot of ways that Japanese film, Japanese fighting, Japanese martial arts have had an effect on this movie. And certainly the movie is dripping with Japanese tradition both cinematically, fighting-wise and philosophically as well."
"One of the things that has always been a feature of Wolverine in the comics is that he has a berserker rage, that he has anger and some of his abilities are driven by something more primal… Honestly, to get really pissed off—not cute pissed off, not quippy pissed off, not funny pissed off or cigar-chomping pissed off, just pissed off—that can then help drive the fighting, drive the combat. That is interesting for me and then for the character, some of the jet fuel underneath some of the combat in the film."

"Star Wars: Episode VII" update
Well where do we start, since Walt Disney announced that they had acquired Lucasfilm back in October and they announced they were continuing the Star Wars franchise. The question on nearly everybody lips has been who will direct the first film? Well, yesterday we found out that the incredibly talented J. J. Abrams will be at the helm.
If you aren't familiar with his work, where the heck have you been ha, here is an insight to the films an TV shows he has had parts in. J. J. has been co-creator of such of icon shows as "Lost", "Alias" & "Fringe" and films like "Armageddon", "Cloverfield" & "Star Trek"(2009) so you can see he has an affiliation to the Science Fiction world, so personally I think he is a great fit for the film. A lot of people moan about his usage of lens flare, which at times is annoying it really did wind me up at time when watching "Star Trek" at times it became hard to watch, but the film was great. The only downfall to J. J. Abrams to directing is his approach to marketing he likes to keep things under wrap and not leak much.
We also know that Michael Arndt s writing the screenplay for the film, he doesn't have a huge background behind him he did write the screenplays for Oscar winning "Little Miss Sunshine" and Oscar nominated "Toy Story 3". So with his first ever film he won an Oscar and his second film was nominated for one, good sign? Bad sign?
Star Wars old boy Lawrence Kasdan is returning franchise, he an fellow screenwriter Simon Kinberg are writing scripts for films that will either serve as Episode VII sequels or spin offs that will feature other characters, kind of like "The Avengers" lead up films would be my guess.
There is also a rumour that Zack Snyder the man behind DCs next big project "Man Of Steel" is set to direct a spin off film within the Star Wars universe. Whether there is any truth to this we don't know yet, lets see how well he does with "Man Of Steel" first before we get too excited.

"Doctor Who" returns March 30th
January Jones not in "X-Men Days Of Future Past"
Since the original announcement of the film, the cast has grown and grown, but now it is looking like we've lost Emma Frost played by the beautiful January Jones. She has also said she doesn't really know anything about the film either.
“I don’t know that I’m in it, I don’t think Emma’s in this one. Well they haven’t told me if I am (laughs). I wouldn’t put it past them though, I got the script for the first one on the airplane on the way there. It’s called Days of Future Past I think, and I think it’s more about James [McAvoy] and Michael [Fassbender] and then Patrick [Stewart] and Ian [McKellan], and I think it’s gonna go back and forth with those so I don’t think Emma’s in those bits. I don’t know, I really don’t know.”

All the big television and cable networks seem to be getting a run for their from streaming services, Netflix are releasing "House Of Cards" soon plus they are working on a new series of "Arrested Development" which is set to be released in May this year.

BREAKING NEWS J.J. Abrams to direct...
"Star Wars: Episode VII"!!! This is the best movie news I've heard since I started this blog if its true, TheWrap are going with an exclusive that Walt Disney Productions and Lucasfilm have hired him to direct the upcoming film, they are also saying that Ben Affleck was in contention to direct thankfully they passed on him.
Back in November, Abrams commented on him possibly directing the film an it sounded like it might happen, looks like that day has come true!
"Look, Star Wars is one of my favorite movies of all time. I frankly feel that – I almost feel that, in a weird way, the opportunity for whomever it is to direct that movie, it comes with the burden of being that kind of iconic movie and series. I was never a big Star Trek fan growing up, so for me, working on Star Trek didn’t have any of that, you know, almost fatal sacrilege, and so, I am looking forward more then anyone to the next iterations of Star Wars, but I believe I will be going as a paying moviegoer!"

Frank Daradont talks "Godzilla" reboot
When I read Frank Darabont was hired to write the script for the "Godzilla" reboot I was kinda excited the dude has a great filmography behind him "The Walking Dead", "The Green Mile" & "The Shawshank Redemption" to name a few. The plan since the last film has been to make it more serious, here is what Darabont had to say about the film.
“What I found very interesting about Godzilla is that he started off definitely as a metaphor for Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And some of the atom bomb testing we were doing in the South Pacific in the subsequent years. The giant terrifying force of nature that comes and stomps the shit out of your city, that was Godzilla. Filtered through the very fanciful imaginations of the Japanese perception. And then he became Clifford the Big Red Dog in the subsequent films. He became the mascot of Japan, he became the protector of Japan. Another big ugly monster would show up and he would fight that monster to protect Japan. Which I never really quite understood, the shift.
What we’re trying to do with the new movie is not have it camp, not have it be campy. We’re kind of taking a cool new look at it. But with a lot of tradition in the first film. We want this to be a terrifying force of nature. And what was really cool, for me, is there was a very compelling human drama that I got to weave into it. It’s not that cliched, thinly disguised romance or bromance, or whatever. It’s different, it’s a different set of circumstances than you’re used to seeing. And that’s tremendously exciting as a writer when you’re asked to do something else."
Production is set to begin this March, with Gareth Edwards the genius behind 2010's "Monsters" directing, the cast is still being put together but there is some big names being thrown around. Names like Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Henry Cavill, Scoot McNairy and Caleb Landry Jones are being touted for the lead role after Joseph Gordon-Levitt turned it down at the end of last year.

No Jimmy Olsen in "Man Of Steel"
Has anybody else noticed that there is no mention of any Jimmy Olsen in any of the posts about "Man Of Steel", I was doing a little looking around on the Wikipedia and IMDB page for the film an didn't see any actors rumoured to be playing him. But, on the IMDB cast page there is an actress called Rebecca Buller who is playing a character called "Jenny Olsen" has Jimmy been replaced by a lady for the new film?
So I decided to go back an watch the most recent trailer of the film released by Warner Brothers a few weeks ago. There is one scene where we see Laurence Fishburne (who is playing Perry White) running with Buller arm in arm away from a collapsing building. So Jimmy is now a Jenny? Way to confuse a guy Mr. Snyder! Below is a still I took from the trailer on Youtube, see what I mean?

"S.H.I.E.L.D" TV Series has begun filming
I know this is a movie blog, but I do enjoy keeping up with everybody Television related too. In the past few days Joss Whedon's television adaption of Marvels S.H.I.E.L.D begun filming, its not really that exciting news nor is it really "news" it was inevitable.
Joss is a dab hand when it comes to TV Series, how good was "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" plus the famous "Firefly" which was tragically cut short. So, we all know that Joss has the credentials to take the TV world by storm again. Who isn't excited about Clark Gregg returning to us with Phil Coulson, I was devastated when they killed him off in "The Avengers". The only other confirmed actors that I have heard about are Ming-Na Wen (from "A Town Called Eureka" & "Stargate Universe"), Elizabeth Henstridge (from "Tooting Broadway"), Ian De Caestecker (from "Coronation Street" & the upcoming "In Fear") and Brett Dalton (from 1 episode of "Blue Bloods").
"The whole point of the show is that even with all these big things, the little things matter. It’s about people who don’t have super powers. There will be some people with powers, there will be FX, and there will be the spectacle of science-fiction storytelling — but all played on a very human, small level. That’s the appeal of the thing."

"Justice League" & "Batman" reboot rumours
We all know that Nolan's Batman trilogy ended last year, leaving behind a legacy we will never forget. Since the films ended we have all been wondering what DC are going to do next, considering Marvel are having such success since releasing "The Avengers" and its lead up films.
"As of now, the “new” cinematic Batman will most likely debut in JUSTICE LEAGUE – which is rumored to be a Summer 2015 release for Warner Bros. So what about the first, post-“Dark Knight Trilogy” solo Batman movie? My FOBOF says 2017…at the earliest." via Batman On Film
This rumour comes from a pretty credible source Batman On Film is pretty respected online, I've personally been visiting their website for a while now and enjoy it. The worst thing about this rumour is that we still have no solid information about, anything ha ha. With no actual information, we do get a little snippet of a beautiful rumour, that is Batman is set to appear in the upcoming Justice League film before he goes solo.

NBC planning "Dracula" series...
With the success of "True Blood" and "Vampire Diaries", NBC is really pushing for their own Horror series. They already have "Hannibal" and "Mockingbird Lane" in the works, but they aren't stopping their they are working on a new Dracula series and it looks like we know who is set to play the leading female role. If reports are correct "Carnivale" creater Daniel Knauf has been hired as showrunner and head writer for the series. "Dracula" has already been given a 10 episode straight-to-series for its first season.
The beautiful Jessica De Gouw (currently playing Huntress on CW's "Arrow"), is going to play Mina although her character will differ from Bram Stroker's novel. In the show Mina Murray is a "striking medical student who is engaged to Jonathan Harker but upon meeting Grayson both are instantly mesmerized by the other’s uncanny resemblance to someone from their past."
NBC have also cast their Dracula an he is set to be played by Irish actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers, this isn't his first appearance on a TV Show he also played King Henry VIII in "The Tudors" plus he played Elvis Presley in "Elvis" which earned him a Golden Globe back in 2005.
“It centers on Dracula (Meyers), who arrives in London posing as American entrepreneur Allen Grayson, who maintains that he wants to bring modern science to Victorian society. In reality, he hopes to wreak revenge on the people who ruined his life centuries earlier, but he falls hopelessly in love with a woman who seems to be a reincarnation of his dead wife.”

"Zombieland" TV Series?
It's looking more and more likely that a "Zombieland" sequel is not going to happen, which I personally believe is heartbreaking I loved the original. But, the Zombieland TV Series that has been rumoured since I'd say 2011 appears to be on the up and up. Back in October 2011, it was announced that Fox and Paramount Pictures were discussing bringing onto the TV scene.
Back then Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick the original screenwriters for the movie were working on scripts for to be developed as 30 minute episodes. For those that were unaware, like myself "Zombieland" was originally developed as a TV Pilot which was written by Reese and Wernick so these guys have had the basic layout for a TV Series set up for a long time.
It's being reported that the project is moving onto the casting stages an the production company has sent out casting call sheets for the main characters. It's looking likely that the characters are going to differ a bit from the film, below we have some apparent information on what the characters are going to be like.
“Tallahassee is still kind of a snarky weirdo, but he seems to have a much less spiky relationship with Columbus. He and Columbus have a pretty amusing thing where they riff on the fact that Steven Seagal movies always have three-word titles like “Marked for Justice” or “May Cause Diarrhea.” But Tallahassee also dispenses homespun wisdom about how to feel happy with your life. He also tells a weird story about being in a trailer park with a perpetually nude Matthew McConaughey. He also has a somewhat heartwarming scene where he tells Columbus that he’s been wandering aimlessly for a long time, but maybe he’s been put here for a reason — to help Columbus and the others.
Columbus is much the same, except that he tracks down his grandma and grandpa (Bubbie and Peepaw) only to find them recently zombiefied. Also, Columbus is trying to deal with his newfound relationship with Wichita, after their first kiss. He has started calling her “Krista,” her real name — but there are some problems, especially after she finds him reading a book about fatherhood. He tries to organize a romantic scavenger hunt for her in the IKEA they’re camping out in, but it goes kind of horribly.
Wichita is still trying to look after Little Rock, trying to teach her math with problems about someone stealing from a liquor store and jumping on a train going 42 miles per hour, with a cop chasing in a car going 88 miles per hour. We also learn a lot more about Wichita’s backstory, including how she ran away from her father after he had her stealing people’s Christmas presents — and later, she found out she had a sister who was also being a grifter with her dad.
Little Rock seems actually kind of excited about meeting Columbus’ grandparents, before they turn out to be zombies. And she shares some of her own backstory, about how her dad parked her at a school while he went off grifting on his own — and then yanked her out of school right before a dance that she was looking forward to.”
Bare in mind that none of these details have been officially announced, with that being said what television station wouldn't want this on their network. Look at the success of some of the other Horror related shows on television now "Supernatural" has reached its 9th Season, "Walking Dead" is one of the favourite shows in the US and the UK plus the likes of "True Blood" and "American Horror Story".

"Terminator 5" has writers?
Megan Ellison purchased the rights to Terminator back in 2011 an since then there hasn't really been any talk about a new movie, but there hasn't been any major developments. Deadline, has reported that Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier will be working together on a new script.
Kalogridis has a pretty decent writing history, she has done films such as "Alexander" and "Pathfinder" plus she was the executive producer on "Avatar", on the other hand Lussier's isn't as prestigious he done films like "Dracula 2000" and its appalling sequels.
Megan is working in tandem with her brother, David, who has been involved with "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol", "Jack Reacher" and "Star Trek Into Darkness", so they have a pretty good pedigree when it comes to big Sci-Fi/Action films. There are no specific details released on the film as of yet, but I will surely keep you updated with any developments on the film.
