Charlie Cox talks Daredevil

Charlie Cox has recently spoke to TheHollywoodReporter about the upcoming Netflix adaptation of Marvel's Daredevil, which I assume we are all looking forward to, here is what he had to say;

"It's great fun, but it also comes with a great deal of responsibility," Cox said of playing Daredevil. "I wasn't really aware of how vast the comic book world was until I became part of the Marvel universe. I went to Comic Con last week, and it's really important to a lot of people. It really is. I'm having a great time." 

"I've read comics after comics after comics - I've never read so many comics in my life, and we're finding moments from the comics to reference in the show," Cox explained. "We're trying to make a show that's new and much, much darker than anything I've ever seen Marvel do before. The concept that he can't stop. He's going out and he's taking the law into his own hands, and he doesn't know if he can stop. He might be addicted to it." 

Steven S. DeKnight talks "Daredevil" show

In the past couple of days we have learnt that we are set to get more details about the "Daredevil" TV Show at the upcoming New York Comic Con, is there a more befitting place really? However, show-runner Steven S. DeKnight has jumped the gun a little bit and gave us a lovely little update, here it is;
  
"With this version of Daredevil," he explains, "we wanted it to be grounded, gritty, as realistic as we could portray. That naturally fits in with the Daredevil character. Matt Murdock, on a regular basis, would get the shit beat out of him. That's one thing that makes him a great character. He's not super strong. He's not invulnerable. In every aspect, he's a man that's just pushed himself to the limits, he just has senses that are better than a normal humans. He is human. The other thing that really drew me to this character is that he's one of the most morally grey of the heroes... He's a lawyer by day, and he's taken this oath. But every night he breaks that oath, and goes out and does very violent things."

"The image that always stuck in my mind was the Frank Miller Elektra run where he's holding Bullseye over the street," DeKnight continues, "and he lets Bullseye go because he doesn't want Bullseye to ever kill anyone again. When I read that originally, when I was young, I'd never seen anything like that in comics. Superman scoops up the villain and puts them in jail. This time the hero didn’t do that. It was a morally grey ground that I found absolutely fascinating. There are two sides to this character. He's literally one bad day away from becoming the The Punisher!"

"Daredevil" reboot?

The "Daredevil" reboot is still in very early stages of production, but looks like they have added David Slade to the production crew. He is has been hired to give the film a complete reboot, Slade is a newbie when it comes to film making. He has made three films in his short career they are "Hard Candy", "30 Days Of Night" and "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse", none of which are anything like we would expect Daredevil to be like. Brad Caleb Kane has reportedly been brought on board to write the script for the film he has a great writing background with "Fringe" being one of his writing credits.

"20th Century Fox is revving a reboot of Daredevil, and the studio is setting David James Kelly to rewrite of the script, for David Slade to direct… …reports have the studio working off the Frank Miller/David Mazzucchelli story arc Born Again, as The Kingpin uncovers the superhero’s secret identity, and uses it to turn blind lawyer Matt Murdoch’s life upside down."

 The born again concept would be best in my opinion, I thought that the Ben Affleck "Daredevil" back in 2003 was a horrible movie. I read sometime last year that Jason Statham said in '08 he would be interested in doing a Daredevil film, whether or not that is still true now I think that would be interesting (minus his cockney accent).
