Martin Scorsese will be recognised with Bafta's highest possible honour, the Academy Fellowship at next months awards ceremony.
"It is a great honour to be recognised by the British Academy, and to join the ranks of such an esteemed group of industry colleagues and friends"
Previous winners of the award include legends of the industry including Alfred Hitchcock, Charlie Chaplin, Steven Spielberg and Stanley Kubrick.
