It was reported in November that J.J. Abrams new "Star Trek" sequel was shooting in 3D and was planning to release May 17, 2013. Well Abrams has said in an interview with MTV News that this is not true,
"We're shooting on film, 2D, and then we'll do a good high-end conversion like the 'Harry Potter' movie and all that, luckily, with our release date now we have the months needed to do it right, because if you rush it, it never looks good... We were talking about [shooting in IMAX] and I would love to do it. IMAX is my favourite format; I'm a huge fan."
I've never really been a huge "Star Trek" fan personally, but growing up my Dad had it on ALL the time so I know he will be happy to hear this news! To be honest I haven't even seen the movie released in 2009, will have to catch up in time for the sequel release.
