The same company that created the effects for "The Thing" that was released this year is the same company that done the effects for Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man" in 2002. They also done the effect of the Aliens in "Alien 3" and "Alien Resurrection" to name two of there great filmography. They released an older screen test footage of Raimi's Green Goblin from the 2002 movie.
As you can see from the video, this version of the Goblin looks a lot more like the Green Goblin from the original comics. I would have preferred to have seen this Goblin in the movie than what they actually used.
